X Valve velocity issues... (posted about this same gun over summer)

    YO! AO Fam!! What up!!

Long story... helping the tech at the local field with a Tac One over the summer...

Originally venting out the back... blew a bunch of brown crud on the tech's arm... then my buddy bought it broken (at my suggestion lol)... and I've been trying to bring it back to life.

So, it was venting... and shooting super hot (330-350 or more) and we couldn't bring down the velocity.

Recently got in a new piston... and a rebuild kit... started working on it at the field this morning... replaced the piston.. lubed the spring pack with white lithium... replaced all o rings in the back part of the valve... including the 2 o rings and the spacer on the pin...

No dice... Got home and took a look at the diagram (hadn't done that in a long time, just assumed everything was there)... and we were missing o ring number 31... added that... seems to have resolved a lot of the issues (no more leaks or weirdness)... also put in a tighter LX carrier in the power tube to stop the bolt from leaking down the barrel... seems to do good in the backyard... but can't be sure due to no chrono.

I'm going to take it to the field next weekend... if the velocity still won't come down... what else could it be? It has a ULT on/off... didn't fool with that... and left the old LX o ring on there... just used a tighter carrier. Those are the only seals that haven't been replaced.

    Let me know your thoughts.

    Merry Christmas everyone!!

#31 is the reg seat oring. A speck of dirt on there or a bad oring will cause the high pressure issues you were having. You should be good to go now.

Alright... played today... chrono'd the gun...

Last week it was consistently shooting over 325 (betw 325-350) and nothing changed velocity...

Chrono'd today... shots betw 285 and 305-310 (not a super tight bore)... but I suspect it only because it was much colder today than last weekend.. . no matter how much I adjusted the velocity... it made no difference... so I suspect I am still having the same issue.

I guess I'll tear it down and check 31 and 34 for dirt... as well as the orings and what not on the pin... anything else I should look at?

make sure you are chronoing it correctly. Fire a few shots to get it warm...hold trigger back...fire to chrono and hold trigger back again.
