air leaks out at the rear end

My automag's regulator is leaking air at the velocity adj hole. Once I turn it down (lower the velocity the leak stops but my velocity is only 180FPS. Once I got it back to 260FPS it leaks again. Have change the O-ring inside the reg but to no avail.

    Need help

Well Tom says that if that happens you should replace your reg piston assembly. If you have it on regular velocity and it will does that...

They are $20.00 at the online store. Here is what it says:

The Regulator Piston comes as an assembly that has a built in blow off valve. Do not dissasemble! Replace this part when air is venting out the back of the marker and you are shooting less than 300 FPS.

Here is a link to the reg. piston:

You could have your reg seat in backwards, that would cause what you are describing. Also if your paint is extreemly tight in your barrel that could cause the same problem.

Is there a poorman's fix to this situation (without buying the piston)?

there is a poor mans solution however are you runing air or co2? and it will work, mine is holding back about 750 psi (that's output pressure for my micro, not input pressure.) by the way does anyone know what pressure a new piston will release at?
