I'm Getting a new gun and I need Advice

Like I said I'm getting a new gun and I figured you people here would know some of the problems with both. Currently I've got a VERY souped up Spyder TL Plus, never had any problems with it, very good gun. But what do you guys think: Automag R/T Pro, or Autococker? what are disadvantages and advantages with each?

    All help is greatly appreciated.

If you could go and shoot both of them, they both have very different triggers, and see what you like best.

If you can't, rt's are a great gun right out of the box, except the barrel, if you have nitro/revy already. They are better than stock cockers IMO, but still stock cockers are still pretty good. Remember rt's need compressed air to run while cocker don't.

Well at first I was just going to go with the RT but then everyone here made it sound like a paint eating machine.

Come on fellas I need some serious help with my decision.
Also like a CO2 gun can you have a remote system (nitrogen)with a gas-thru stock? I haven't seen those for sale.

yes you can run nitrogen through a stock and a remote. the argument between mags and cockers huh. well first off, it isn't the gun thats a paint eating machine its your happy little finger. both guns can shoot very fast, some people like the autocockers trigger while some can really get rts going SUPER fast. i like em both, i like mags more because i know how to fix em and they are very well made and ive never had anything go wrong with mine. Cockers, i believe, are great if A) you know how to fix em, or B) you never mess with em so you don't have to fix it. A stock cocker is a great gun, its when you buy all sorts of stuff for it you need to retime it and most people don't know how to do that very well and you have a whole lot of problems. simple. go with the mag. Fancy, pretty, popular. go with the cocker. try em both out and see for your self.

Autocockers and mags are 2 VERY different guns. Cockers are very acurate and tend to have better range than mags. They are especially complicated. I have heard that they are reliable and will work most of the time if you dont mess with them.(I am the type of player who completely disembles the gun before I even fire it or read the instructions.THIS IS NOT A SMART IDEA, believe me I mess up more guns this way than you can imagine. I work at my local paintball field and I have messed guns up before I even buy them.) The autocker trigger is very different from most guns(especially the mag). It is long and smooth, and very easy to short stroke,(there are newbies who short stroke an autocker less than me). Autocockers are also very upgradable because there are a lot more parts that can be exchanged with better ones.
Automags on the other hand are simple, and extremly well built. The triggers are very short and snappy. They have a crisp pull, and RT's have an extremly fast and stiff recoil. Enough so that you can actually ride the trigger.
Now, I would STRONGLY recomend trying both guns first and figure out which one is better for you. Not what everyone else thinks. If you like both equally, I would buy the mag.

JT - your comment on cockers being very accurate and tending to have better range is false....

all guns shoot about the same distance. phisics will back me up on this one... cockers have the same accuracy as mags, as well as other guns. as long as the paint/barrel match is ok, you'll be fine.

I don't know about cocker but I like my Minimag very much. When you keep good care of it will work like a train toilet.

But I don't know (again) about cocker but mags online help is just great. You will ever had a better service like the Mag owners.

You should really try both for a few games and see which one you like more.

                      recon,

i almost bought a cocker (as a second gun)...then went to paintballravi.com and saw the troubleshooting guide...over 25 pages...the automag troubleshooting guide...something like 5-10 minutes on a videotape...not too much to go wrong, and if it does, just come here and talk to the experts...they will get you going before you can blink

                      get a mag!!

cockers chop until you get used to the pull, i sold mine to buy a mag, now i have 2 mags, both classics, why 2 i don't know the first 1 i owned is the only 1 i use, still shoots like a dream. make yourself happy get a mag, easier to work on. i don't know too much about the rt's though.

i'd go with the mag. I've shot both, and like the mag better. I really don't like the trigger pull on my friend's stock cocker. And I really like the mag trigger.

Actually an autococker does have have its clear advantages over a mag. As does the mag over the cocker.
If you have ever played a couple of games with a cocker(woods ball that is)followed by one with a mag you will notice a slight difference in accuracy and range.
But mags are still WAY BETTER! (hahahaha! i'd like to see an autocker shoot 24 bps (thats how fast rt's are) without tearing itself appart from the inside!)

Just remember, no matter what anybody tells you, when you own an Automag, there's no such thing as too much paintball.
                              http://www.digitalpaintball.net - I love this game!

Chrome adds around 4 bps to any gun.
