    Prefered Barrel Lengths

Just wondering what everybody's preference on barrel lenghts are in speedball games.:)

I use 11.5". Best length for optimal efficiency AND accuracy is actually 11 inches. It takes 10" for a ball to accelerate, and I guess the 1" left over is for a muzzel to vent air that is flowing around the paintball in uneven areas, like turbulences on a plane. A Mag is small enough that you don't absolutely need a 10" barrel rather than 12". IMO 12" is the best because it allows the ball to fully accelerate, it is the most efficient length, and it is still small enough. Just my opinion though.

*dont get 16 inches though because thats a major major waste of gas, its long as hell and a pain on the field, and it just gives a ball a better chance to break in the barrel.*

I use my Minimag stock barrel and it works amazing! It's so small, 8 inches. Has no porting so it is really air efficient. I use it for woods too :).

a_malfunction you said that worked awesome too . Well I don't see the point of a long barrel. It doesn't make it go farther, it uses more air, and it gets in the way sometimes. Lol an 8" barrel will shoot exactly as far as a 20" barrel, except the 8 will be much more effiecent on air.

It's all about your paint to barrel match when you think about it. That's why a 10" Freak Kit is what I got my eyes on :).

10" Carbon FIber is my fav barrel I own :). Use it for everything...unless one of my other barrels is a better paint to barrel match.

Use a 16" for Bid games and sup-air fields.

The 16" allows you to sight down the barrel plus hold the gun tight to the side of a sup-air blow-up bunker without having to pull your gun back everytime someone returns fire.

Use an 8" to 10" inch for a regular fixed bunker style speedball type field. It will allow you to keep tight to the bunker and able pop out for quick snap shots.

                          These are my preferences.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

                            good point

I see having a 16" could help in sup air fields. Just remember it increases ball breaks and decreases efficiency (for whoever posted this thread).
