Even if it does have some affect it would be so small that all the other variables would drown out it's affect.

There's an interesting analysis on this subject up on Warpig. Their conclusion, after extended & documented testing, was that there is no difference.

I don't know if this is true, but on the thread about the "Z-gripped, open-bolt electro-cocker" it said that he made it open bolt because it cycles faster.

I doubt it would make it significantly faster.
The problem with cockers is all the stuff that is moving back and forth. Bold, hammer and whatnot. The mechanics quite simply limits the speed. But, they look like fun if you enjoy tinkering and upgrading.

Yeah, no real effect, and technically all guns fire from a closed bolt position.

Personally I could care less.. I enjoy painting up 1700$ cockers with my 900$ mag setup. Especially when I nail the front block. LOL Then they get leaks etc.. what a GREAT GUN those cockers are ROFLMAO. Cocker owners are busy fixing while everyone else is busy playin.

oh..I'm sorry I went off on a tangent.. no I don't believe there is ANY advantage of a closed bolt marker.

Arno..actually not all markers fire from a closed bolt. Unless you're talking about the fact that at some time during the cycle the bolt is not moving. :P

What I meant is that in every gun, the bolt is in a "closed" position when the ball is fired, be it a cocker or a spyder. The only difference is the sequence in which the bolt cycles/fires/stays.
