Not sure that would be possible. I know they make multi color LED's ones that change from Green to Orange to red depending on voltage, but you'd have to get something that would send power to the green side while voltage was up above 8 volts.. then once power went below that.. it would power the Red side of the LED. Could be wrong though.

There are several ways to accomplish this but not sure if it is worth the time. It really depends on how knowledgeable you are about electronics. If you are not an electronics tinkerer, I wouldn't mess with it.
An alternative soloution would be to buy a cheap voltmeter and measure the voltage accross the battery terminals (with battery disconnected) a couple of times throughout the day.
Personally, I just replace the battery before I go play and use the old one for something else around the house.
Still shoot my PMI-3 from time to time....
