Does the Intelliframe fit on a classic RT?

It will but the back grip frame hole needs to be drilled out to a larger diameter to accomodate the banjo bolt of the classic RT's. When ordering one from AGD you need to specify it's for the old school RT.

If I bought one used off Ebay, it should be ok for me to drill and tap it (actually I don't think the hole should be threaded...) myself, correct?

The hole doesn't need to be tapped. You'll just have to find out what size to drill the hole to and you should be fine doing it yourself.
