ReTro Valve questions...

i have a ReTro valve that has a leak that i'm fixing for a friend. i haven't taken a look at it yet, but i have a couple of questions about it.

    1) i don't have the sear for it, but can i use my normal Mag sear? i would like to gas it up, while on my mag, to make sure that its sealing properly. don't want to try doing it while out of the gun.

    2) does the RT parts kit work for the ReTro valve as well? i think that it would, but would like to be sure on this.

    3) anything i would need to now about the differences between the A.I.R. valve and the ReTro? other than the standard company lines, of 26bps before drop off, HPA only, etc and so forth.

the sear used for the ReTro Valve, and the sear used on an A.I.R. valve, are one and the same. your sear will work fine with the ReTro Valve
Seeing as the ReTro Valve, IS an RT valve, yes, an RT parts kit will have the parts to replace all o-rings in a ReTro Valve.
Well, aside from the points you stated, theres only the different internal valve system thats different. If you take out the pin on the power tube section of the valve, which has 2 orings, a translucent-ish split plastic ring, and a series of black rings, DO NOT disassemble these black r ings, as they are factory adjusted only, and if you break them, there is no fixing them, you'll have to buy a new part.
Hope this helped some.

      thanks.

now, i have had a chance to gas it up. it is leaking out, and i'm guessing, the over-pressure relief hole on the side. i did get it to fire, but the sear wasn't engaging all the way(i do have to read up on the RT valve), as on my Mag.

will getting a new oring kit and replacing them, cure the leak? i was using my 114ci 3000psi Crossfire on it and trying to adjust the pressure by the stock adjuster. am i on the right track or am i just pissing in the wind(excuse the expresion)?

I think some pin or piston or something odd inside the valve has a problem when it leaks out of the hold in the side. I think you'll need to get another part from the store. You'll have to wait for someone who knows exactly what's going on to help.

If im not mistaken, leaking out the side vent hole, means you need to replace your Valve Pin Assembly O-Rings. Ive included a pic of the valve pin below, you want to replace the two o-rings on the end, but do not tamper with the black disks, otherwise you'll need to buy a new Valve Pin Assembly.

Should you not be able to locate the valve pin assembly, as its tucked inside of the power tube portion of the valve, ive included a link to an exploded view of the ReTro Valve which you can find a link to below.

          ReTro Valve Exploded View.

          Hope this helps.
