It's been 4 years since I've had my marker out of the box, so forgive me for the simple questions. I'm going through a complete restore. Luckily I've kept the marker in a cool dry place, no rust or problems have been detected, yet.

I've got an older MiniMag. What is the purpose of foamies? Are they really required? How do I get them to stick?

Send in your Minimag and Im pretty sure AGD will upgrade it for you to a level 7. This should help you out a lot. Call and ask them first of course. Second, I doubt that you would have rust on your gun anyway, because its mostly stainless steel 304. But the sear, trigger rod, and possibly the on/off valve could have rusted. If they have, no big deal just replace them.

As for foamies, I would say to not worry about them. The only problems I have with chopping are when I shortstroke. I have chopped like 2 out of 5 or 6 cases of paint.

No need to send it in, I'm pretty sure all Minimag valves are made Level 7.

Foamies can only be put onto foamie bolts, they are used to cushion brittle balls, and be more gentler.

Thanks for the replies. After quite a few hours of searching, and making a mess, I found the instruction manual.

So would you recommend gluing the foamies on, or leaving it bare?

Any other upgrades you can recommend? I've replaced all of the o-rings already. Is the ReTro Valve worth the $200? What return would I see on that upgrade?

If you have a foamie bolt it needs foamies. Clean the area you put the foamie on really well, and attach the foamie with some super glue.

if you havent played in 4 years i doubt that your gonna have the trigger finger that would cause shoot down, save your money. if your shoot co2 sprnd that money on n2.

Yes, ALL Minimag valves are Level 7. A drop of superglue will attach a new foamie to the bolt once you've cleaned off the remains of the previous one.

Personally, I'd stick with the minimag valve for now. I just used my stock (almost 7 year old) valve in a tourney Saturday and it worked flawlessly. Only 2 chops all day, and that was because of operator error. (I forgot to turn on my darn revvy!)

Yeah I forgot that all Minimags were level 7's. The Retro valve is worth it, but you need a hopper to keep up with it so thats a lot more money. I'd say if you are going to play tourneys sometime soon, then get the Retro Valve.

Still Restoring

Other than the usual replacement of O-rings, is there anything else that may be crucial to do some maintenance on before I go out to the field and give her a try? Like Bumper or Bolt Spring Replacement? Anyplace where I may want to clean and re-oil?

I would say O-rings, oil it and then go to town!
