Heavy Mag

I finally got my mag all working and took it out to play today. Definatly a nice machine, could use a little more tweaking but i'm very happy with it.

The only problem i have with it is it's HEAVY. I got a 12 inch boomstick, an xchamber and a 20 oz tank on a bottom line. I had to just set the gun down and rest my arm several times.

I know getting a remote would help some....but there is just something psychologically unpleasent about a remote to me, dunno exactly what it is.

Yes, a remote would help. They aren't exactly "in" at the moment, but I say function before style. You could also look into getting a one peice aluminum barrel. There are plenty that shoot just as good as a boomy and are usually half the price and quite a bit lighter.

A fibre wrap HPA tank would also take a load off your arm and give you the benefit of shooting Air

That sucks. You could provide your own if there is a scuba shop and you had money.

You could always go with a smaller tank and fill it more often. I'm going to the tank thing because they are genereally the heaviest single item.

A drop while not making the marker any lighter can help to distribute the weight better and reduce the strain on your arm.

you can try getting a drop. It may not be lighter but it will fill balanced, and that will fill like it is lighter. I know because my retro mag is heavy and i got a waped sportz dropp it is sweet.

Maybe a gas-through foregrip, or since you use Co2, an expansion chamber would help. That way you can use two hands to support the gun.

many times, its not the weight, but the balance. try getting a drop forward so you can have your tank more "under" your gun. this will make it much better.

btw, remotes are not very comfortbale. its not cool having a tank jumping around on your back as you run...

I just switched back to remote after at least a year with my nitro tank on my marker. While it may not be "cool", I want to try it a remote again. It seems to me that unless your a tourney player and you don't want the bulk on the back getting hit you could be happy with a remote. I went for years with a co2 remote set-up. It also seems to me that if the marker is lighter that it would be easier/faster to move it around. The tought part about remote is getting it snagged on things.

remotes are a hastle. It hard to get them off and you can't put down your gun without the hastle to taking off the whole remote.
If you get a good drop then your gun will be much better balanced and confortable to hold and use.

Well, you get a slide check/quick disconnect or a Pro-connect and it's not really a problem. You will want to put male end on the marker. I'm just saying it's an option. The bottom line is do what you like as opposed to automatically doing what's in fashion. You do own an Automag, so obviously you can think for yourself.

zbody lightens it up a bit since its all aluminum. I tried remote for awhile and found it made the gun unbalanced and hard to aim straight during long strings of shots. You can get a big 'ol fiberwrapped co2 tank from smart parts (at least you used to be able to) not sure if that big fiberwrapped is any lighter than the aluminum 20oz or not.

I used to run a remote when I first went HPA. Then I switched over to on gun because of the snagging. I play more woods ball than speed ball. After playing with it on-gun you get used to the weight. The freedom of on-gun is very liberating and its great if you can shoot ambidextrously. Snap shoot right, snap shoot left. Right, left, right, left.....not that I shoot like that
