AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
Which barrel would you recommend for me to get. I'm just trying to get THE QUIETEST barrel I can for my minimag, and was wondering what you would recommend, for that. Thanks!!!

If you can find an old BOA Concealor, get it. They had a built in silencer. Quiet barrels! They havent been made for a few years however. I would recommend a long (14-16inches) Smart Parts All American. Not gas efficient at ALL, but they are quiet and accurate.
what makes a barrel quiet is it's porting, and venting the gas out so that it does not some much explode when it finally reaches the end of the barrel. so, get something that's long and has a lot of porting. silencers, as far as i know, are illegal an di would not recommend tempting the law. get something long that is medium to large bore to save efficiency.

The quietest barrel I've ever used is the 32* Whisper, but I don't think they are made for mags. The All-American is probably the 2nd quietest I've ever used.
GrassHopper, the quietest barrel is the one that is never shot...but why do you need such a product???
With stealth comes inefficiency. No way around that fact.
Please read TK's wonderfull info on all that is barrels. Learn from it, and forever change you views on that expensive tube that attaches to your marker

I've got a 16", no complaints about accuracy and one of the quietest markers you'll hear, or won't hear
Which All American do you have the new style or the old style. I would really like to get an All American if I could get an old style, but I think that the new ones look to wimpy to put it on my minimag. And does the boomstick's quietness change depending on what model. Because I had an 16" ultralite boomstick on my old Piranha and it was just as, if not quieter, than my friends 18" All American on his Spyder.

I have a Freak System with All American front which is the same exact thing as an all american barrel but just adjustable. It is very very quiet. I would go for a 14" All American.
Thanks for all your help, I'm going to talk to my friend, an ex-professional paintball player ask him for his advice, which will most likely be for the AA because he was sponsored by Smart Parts. Then I'll have to start saving up my money. (I just spent it all buying the minimag, a male palmer reg., a proteus, and paint)

When you say the Teardrop tip, you are referring to what Smart Parts calls the Freak tip for the AA right? I just realized though that when I was looking at the AA that I was seeing it with the Freak tip. The Freak tip is what looks wimpy, the plain tip looks a lot sounder and durable, but are there any other advantages to the Freak tips, other than looks (ugh!!), does it help quiet it????? By any chance does the style of porting affect the way that the paintball flies? (DYE's straight to SP's spiral)

I was referring to the one with the, IMO, ugly holes. (not the regular porting but the one where the porting has the "tear drops" around it) The regular AA is $80, I think, and the tear drop one is $110. I don't think there is a difference in sound, though.
They both sound about the same, the AA tip may be just a little more quiet. The All American tip and the teardrop tip a ported differently in two ways that I can see.
The All American is spiral ported perpindicular to the ceneter axis of the barrel (Straight in). The ports start off small and get bigger further down the barrel.
The Teardrop porting is done spirally but the holes are pitched like 5* of center. To give you an idea if you haven't seen one. If you put a match stick in one of the holes. Turned the barrel until the match was vertical when looking from the end of the barrel, you'll see its off center just a few degrees. I don't know if this is to help shooting through breaks or what but I've got one and thats something I noticed :) All in all I like the teardrop front personally and thats what I'll get when I get my freak. Woot!
