    ..Short Stroking..

    Hey everyone...

    I just took a look thru and didn't see anything recent on this so here goes.... Right now I am running a stock internal Minimag... Only big difference is it has a Double trigger on the stock frame (custom guard). When I tend to shoot quicker, I tend to short stroke the trigger... Now the pull hasn't been modified at all, but is there a way I can make the pull a little easier on my mag, to help with the short stroking as I'm trying to fire at higher rates.. The gun itself is pretty worn in...

    Also, I am thinking of picking up a new barrel for my gun..My 12' Dye Aluminum seems to do me decent but I shoot mostly field paint so I tend to hook towards the end.. Not too bad but a decent ammount. Would a Boomstick or a SS help out? I was thinking about a 12'' SS rather than the boomstick, since it is cheaper - and virtually the same for the control 1/2 no?


    Any info would be appreciated..

      just learn the trigger and you won't short stroke. If you want to shoot faster, get a ReTro valve or an electroinc frame.

      I say get a LApco or a CP barrel, they are much cheaper and more efficant.

          ..Short Stroking....

          Yeah,

          I know part of it is just getting used to the pull.. I have had this mag for about 6 months but i've only run about 3 cases thru it or so... I was so used to the trigger job I did on my Spyder back in the day... Alot of it could be jumping the gun... Eventually I plan on upgrading the valve to a ReTro, just not yet =)

          Thanks for the advice with the barrels... Should I still go with something like Stainless barrel, or should I look at aluminum/Carbon Fiber/Etc... ?

              Yeah just fill your tank and shoot and shoot and shoot until you don't shortstroke. What I try and focus on is pulling the trigger farther back and harder. I never shortstroke, hehe, and I have only used my Mag once .

                  It's all just practice.

                  As far as barrels go I would look for one that matches your paint well. Find out the bore size of the paint you're using and get a barrel with the same bore. As FeeltheRT said Lapco's are very nice for the price. So are CP's. Don't let the cost of the barrel trick you into thinking it's better. I'd stick with good ol stainless or aluminum.

                      Also, there is no difference in performance between the aluminum and the stainless. Just looks and weight.

                          I have a mag Rt so it may be different but i used to short stroke the same(every time I shot quickly) then I lowered my input pressure and my short stroking dropped a lot.

                              Well, with some more looking at it, I realized the bolt was sticking, not short stroking the trigger..
