this things are very pointless as they are historic in nature and are no longer relevant

It's a good idea but the ball sizes are always changing. You'd almost have to make a new chart for each batch of new paint.

yeah i agree.. it was anice idea but the "try and blow a ball thru the barrel" idea works for me..

variables such as humidity and height above sea level can affect things so one chart is no good. Perform the test yourself when u go out to play and u should be happier

                Hey guys...

                For you know it alls:
I just posted this because I found it useful as a basis for doing my own paint/barrel matching tests. I mean hey... if you do not find it useful, then don't use it. Not everyone knows everything like you guys you do...

                For you beginners / newbies:
It is not entirely accurate, but it is a good starting point. As I said I did my own tests, so you may or may not find it useful.

ZeroExtreme is right. A manufacturer will make one style of paint in essentially one size batch to batch, and another in a different size. The molds do not change size. This barrel chart, while somewhat dated, is still quite relevant for fresh paint. Besides, many of these barrels are still being made.

Use the chart as a guide, not an end all

as the mold is used it wears this causes quality to diminish.
now i do not like being tarnished with the know it all brush, i think it is important for newbies to work things out for themselves re paint barrel fit either using the blow test or powder test ( see toms tech tips)

Truth is newbies buy cheap paint, cheap paint is made from older molds. Also some unscrupulous people sell their older paint to the newer teams and this is the biggest bugbear i can see in paintball. Alll boxes should come with a use by date and when u go to a tourney u should get paint in date only. People should use standard accounting principles re paint stock.
