    Need help real soon

I am buying a 68 automag tomorrow, I was planning on buying a 2002 AA 14" barrel. Is this a good barrel?

Is this an effective barrel, is there too much porting on it?

If you could give me reasons why or why not to get this barrel it would be helpful. And if not this barrel which one?

    my opinion

I had 14 in. AA on my cocker...

-damn quiet barrel (only could here my back block moving)...

-noticably less gas effiecent than my lapco bigshot (obvouisly since the bigshot is basically unported)

-doesnt clean out well after break

-accuraccy = pretty good (since it usually comes in medium bore so it matches all but the largest and smallest balls decently)

-strange thing ive had with smart parts barrels (the AA i mentioned before and my current freak kit)that DIDNT HAPPEN with my Lapco.... the balls had a slight hook to the right at the end of their flight path... (its a CONSISTENT HOOK so dont worry about accuracy but just kinda odd)

I have a 16 inch all american on my shocker. but its not a 2002 ,its the older style. I love it. The only thing thats a pain is cleaning the porting if you get a break. I cannot comment on the gas efficiency with it because its on a shocker and they are ridiculous on gas anyways. I have a 12 DYE aluminum on my mag and love it, shoots great and is good on gas. I have also hear great things about the J & J Ceramic. Just my two cents.

smart parts barrels are nice, but they are gas hogs. so if your worried about efficency(sp?) you might want to look at CP, or Lapco barrels, and also look for a bore size that is close to the size of your paint(ie if you shoot med bore paint then get a medium bore barrel)

thx guys, I could always switch it with a freak front too right?

Do the freak fronts waste as much gas?

No, the AA is a one piece barrel so you cannot change the front.

I myself use a Lapco Bigshot and love it, very accurate, kidda loud, but efficent. Plus it's cheap.

the 2002 aa's are 2 piece barrels, and i think they are interchangeable with the freak fronts

I would definatly take the 12in. Length does not mean accuracy, 12 is the best.

hey, i'd get 16. now before u flame and call me ga y and all that newbie accuracy stuff, hold up. if u play sup'air or hyperball, u can use ur barrel to push the bunker back (on sup'air) so u have like nothing showin. and on hyper, the plastic bunkers w/ ridges, u can fir ur barrel in between the ridges. u can do that w/ a shorter barrel, but i find it easier to do w/ a longer barrel. if u play front, that might be a different story, maybe.
