    Automag barrel-lock problems... :(

HI, i just bought my first automag and have difficulty locking the barrel in place. its REALLY hard to get the slot on the barrel to move over the little buttin-thing in the body rail. you have to slam the barrel down on the button, and even then it wont work all the time. i tried oiling the button thing, and i see no real difference. Is this normal? what can i do to fix it?
also for any RT owners out there, my gun chops like MAD! argh! what can i do to fix this? i'm probably not used to the trigger pull yet, what is the "correct" way to pull the trigger? i had an autococker before, so my finger is still pulling straight back and straight forward. is it the same principal on mags?

    sweet jesus, that was fast!

ok, the frame screw didnt look like it was protruding into the body, but i put a washer on the screw anway, and it didnt fix the problem. the button is indented on the front side (where the barrel hits it), so im thinking this might be my problem? but i wasnt sure if mags are supposed to have this "feature" or not.
i love the gun by the way, it looks damn sexy, but if i could only figure out how to shoot it....

Mello... put some oil on the barrel o-rings. Also.. with mine..I had to loosen the hex screw on the bottom of the barrel lock. This relieved some pressure so the pin could retract a littl easier. Once I broke in the barrel (You'll see it wearing down the little channel in the barrel this is normal) I had to re-tighten this but you'll know you need to re-tighten the barrel lock screw once the barrel won't lock correctly.

        thanks a bunch!

ya, i got courageous and adjusted the hex thing about 15 minutes ago and it made quite a big difference. now im worried about the barrel being too loose. it still requires some presure to twist the barrel off, but not a lot. maybe i just have to find a happy medium...thanks for the advice ont he O-rings though, i nver would have thought of that.
also, any suggestions on the correct way to pull the trigger, or are they all different? i have the stock single trigger...

Let me shed a little light on what happens to the twist lock assy.....
When someone slams a barrel in, and it hits the twist lock pin, it actually bends it a little. When that happens, you need to change it(the pin). Take it apart, and if it's bent you will see it

hey thanks! thats what i wanted to know!

Great! (or not so great) i was wondering if the pin was supposed to be angled back like it was. i bought the gun used...oh well, hopefully thats the least of my problems. when i loosened the hex screw under the body rail, the pin WOULD NOT come out. i got the screw itself and the spring out, but the pin (i guess) is too bent to come out the hole. what can i do?
can i buy a whole new barrel-lock assembly? it looked like the brass tube that held the spring, screw, and pin in the body is stuck there for good. i didnt notice any threads on it... hmmmm...

thanks for all the help guys!

                  Gun info...

i have a powerfeed left (not sure if i have the new hyperbolic plug...) RT with a DYE SS using a metal "P" style nubin that is in good shape and fitted well. (as far as i can tell). i have an Egg for a loader...it worked well on my cocker so i cant blame it. i was shooting marbs and some 32 team colors, but they were both about a month or two old. As far as i know i have the stock bolt...whats the diff between the longnose and stock? foamie and stock?(besides the peice of foam on the front...)
hmm, lets see.... the chopping seemed to be happening MOSTLY when i was rapid firing, although after one ball broke in the breach, it didnt really matter if i was shooting fast or slow. which makes sence becuase the balls werent feeding right due to all the paint goop in the powerfeed...
i think im just having chopping issues, but i never thought they would be this bad! after one ball chops, it starts this chain reaction of misfired paintballs and the ones that do make it through the barrel hook like crazy. i guess ill just have to learn the trigger better, unless you guys can think of some miracle cure. anything is worth a try, so give me your ideas.

check to see if you have a parabolic plug by seeing if it has a curve to it instead of just a angled straight slant. it's very important that the plug be parabolic and at the right up/down position. I don't think it would be the dye s.s. or wire nubbin(that's what I use) check the plug.

                          Twist-Lock Assembly

Thanks for the link to the pic, i never would have thought to look at the online store. Ya, my assembly looks all squashed back and oval-ized. lol.
Also im not sure how i can remove the brass casing, becuase it is distorted a little bit too. maybe ill get a picture of it and show you guys...it probably wouldnt help any though, it would just give you an idea of what im talking about.
Hmmm..i read about the parabolic plug somewhere on AO, and i couldnt tell the difference between the two plugs that they gave in the picture. My plug is rounded, but i dont know the diffreence between the parabolic plug and the older rounded plugs...ill get a pic of that too.

                          thanks guys

The automag trigger. Make sure to release it all the way. A cocker is a little different in that you need to make sure you pull it all the way.

The level 10 upgrade should help with chopping. Check this out:

Paintball Talk is the main forum for Automags.org. Here is where we talk about the sport of paintball in general and make announcements relating to the forum and website.

The parabolic feed plug has two holes in the back. Here is a picture showing the differences.

                            Congratulations on the new 'mag.
