    A few Questions about a used 68AUTOMAG

I have just bought a used 68AUTOMAG with serial number CF03236 i read in the manual that i downloaded from the Airgun Designs website:

"We offer updates to level 7 for level 5 and level 6 markers at no charge. Please note that all 68AUTOMAGS since serial number CF3456 and all MINIMAGS have been built as level 7. The update from level 6 to level 7 reduced ball breakage by enlarging the air chamber to function at a lower pressure."

how do i tell if this upgrade has already been done? and if it hasnt should i then contact Airgun Designs?

The 68AUTOMAG was sold to me as a powerfeed but when i reveived it i found out its actually a high rise power feed which i read about Airgun Designs recalling? to then find out they discovered it only needs a new powerfeed plug if so will Airgun Designs send me this for free?

I havent had the 20oz Co2 bottle filled yet but on the bottle the only number i can find that resembles a date is 10-92 presumably October 1992 and i can only assume that this is the date by which its not allowed to be filled after?

Thanks for your time the picture is the my 68AUTOMAG you can just see the high rise powerfeed on the far side

that is definatly a level 7 mag and it's not that old, maybe 3 years.
That powerfeed is fine, and you probably have the new plug in it. There is a classic thread on the Tech forum that has a good pic showing the difference between the two plugs. IF you don't have the new style plug, AGD will send you one for free. Make sure to ask for free stickers while your there
The # on the co2 is not a hydro I'm pretty sure, so it can be filled. You shouldn't be using co2 though.
The only upgrade you should be thinking about now is getting a Nitro system. Mags work to 2/3 potential on co2 w/ a expansion chamber. The best thing you can do for yourself is go to the Air Systems forum where you can score a very decent tank for less then 100. Personally, I get all my things here on the AO trading forums, it's cheap and there is always someone out there who wants to trade.
Good luck with your mag, that body looks pretty cool IMO.

My girlfriend rides a moped. How cool is that??!!

That is one of the old high rise PFs, somewhat of a collector item, but worth more as a working gun.

Remove the valve and bolt, can the power tube be popped off? Remove the power tube tip, is there a spring inside? Remove the on/off valve, is the top piece aluminum or brass with cross-hatching on one side?

Pop-off power tubes were level 6.

PT spring was replaced by the solid tube spacer.

On/off top was improved and can be inserted both ways, there is no cross-hatching.

Nearly all level 6 guns were returned for upgrade, there are very few out there that are still original.

The new Parabolic feed plug should work fine.

i removed the power tube where the blue bumper is at first it popped out when i pulled it but then needed to be unscrewed a bit. and looking into the hole their is a brass spring is this wot was replaced by a solid brass spacer at level 7? i pulled out the on/off valve and i carnt see any hatching and the top peice thats visible when its put back together is aluminum

If the Power Tube (the whole thing, with the blue bumper) popped off the back half of the valve assembly, then you have a level 6. The spring is normal for a level 6 too. The on/off top is the smaller piece that goes into the valve first.

If it still works, cool! You have a fairly rare gun!

Just me thinking here, but I would get an ReTro Valve to replace it, and retire the level 6.

i al have to take it apart again 2moro thanks for the help though and i would love to get a retro valve and all the rest but i carnt afford it and i dont really play enough as it is other commitments eg college and work get in the way not to mention money!

i choose an automag though because when i get a car/better job i will be able to play more and will then upgrade the marker with retro valve level 10 and all of that
                    Thanks
                    Tom

o and i read that the retro valve wont run on Co2 so thats me out
