    emag problems... i'm stumped

eMAG seems to fire fine when rear field strip screw that holds the valve is not tightened. Once it is tightened, it fires but in rapid succession, there is a tendency to go full auto... kinda sounds like something is catching or maybe not catching. I've tried different on/off pin lengths and powertube spacers. Battery is fully charged. Fires fine in mechanical mode. Anyone have any ideas? tolerance issues?

I've heard lots of stories of this happening, so your not alone.
From what i've read theres no fix other than dont tighten it too much.

In E-Mode it will go full-auto?

Will it also in mechanical mode?

How well worn is the sear and what on/off pin lengths have you tried?

      Rail bushing in place?

      Front frame screw fully tightened?

Fully tighten the field strip screw and then take off the left grip and see if the solenoid arm still moves freely.

        Black,

seems that it is a bit tight with the grip off the solenoid seems to come accross some resistance. As far as pins are concerned, I've tried almost everything between .720 to .680.

In E-mode, it begins ok. Then as I increase the rate that I pull, it begins to kinda sound like it's short stroking or something which is supposed to be impossible. Then it just takes over and goes full auto for a burst then stops.

Front Frame screw is fully tightened.

Sear is not worn at all... Brand new in fact.

Thanks for the help. Any idea what the culprit may be?

Your solenoid plunger rod might be a bit bent, creating some resistance and when you get the ROF up high enough it starts sticking and doing goofy stuff.

What happens is the threaded rod gets bent and the plunger drags on the brass wall in the solenoid. Check to make sure that is straight. You can also look at the plunger and if it's been used a lot and is dragging, it will have brass rub marks on it.

Also, check the solenoid plunger length. From the tip of the plunger to the top of the arm that the clevis is held on it should be 3.005" Measured the same way you measure trigger rod length.

            Black,

Thank you so much. It turns out that the plunger length as you had posted was incorrect. It was way too short... Not sure if that was the total cause of the problem but it seems to have fixed all problems after making that adjustment and measuring the shaft. Thanks again. Here's a pic of the one I'm working on.

Thanks to Tunaman for making this beauty as pretty as she is now. Also thanks to Butterfingers for the barrel modification.

              Gorgeous!

BTW- Would you happen to have any pics of an E-Magnum board installed? I'm curious to see how you and Butters set them up.

Probably just milled the mini body's square "peg" down to a circle, so it could fit the normal E-mag rail's cicular hole.

The intellifeed hookup where the LED display was is pretty sweet.

i took my old mag body to a machine shop and had them mill it to the e-mag body diminsions. it cost like $10. it's pretty easy.
