    body rail question?

How do you remove the barrel lock (the spring loaded stainless steel pin that holds the barrel in place)? I just got a new body and I'm trying to remove this part with no success. Any help appreciated.

    See attached picture:

ok make sure the grip isnt on there should be a round thing sticking out of the rail infront of where the gripframe screw is. Take out the screw that is in the round thing a spring will fall out then the pin should come out too.

The new body rail (aftermarket) I bought doesn't have that brass piece. Where can I get one? Any ideas?

            Wrong!

Do not take apart the Twist lock. It DOES come out as a whole assembly. Just turn the rail over and smack it with a block of wood and a hammer. It needs to be pressed or beaten back in.

Thanks for the help! I'll give it a try. Hopefully I can post a picture with my new body rail shortly.

The best way to get the twist lock assembly out is to press it out with a vise. Put the body rail in the vise sideways with the top side of the rail protected by a block of wood. Drill a hole larger than the twist assy in the block of wood where the assy will be pressed out. The bottom of the twist lock assy should be in contact with the vise (use a cloth to protect the assy). When you close the vise, the assy should press right out of the body.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.
