    Nitro matanance and safety

I was playing at chalange park a few weeks ago and one of my friends had a fiber wraped tank. They said he could not use it because it was out of date. Mine was fine because it is steel. When should you get them checked out and where.

I'm in chicago Il so I need a place near me.

    Thanks

Try the yellow pages in your area and look for Scuba or Diver shop.
They could do a Hydrotest there.
Athough, a good Paintball store could also do the test.
Normally cost $35, about 1 to 2 week wait time.
    Hope this helps...

like bambam said.... got a local dive/scuba shop or your local paintball store...

though you will want to shop around... my local store wants to charge 35-40 where as the local dive shops are 20.... if you cant find any in your area also look for welding supply shops or fire exstinusher(yup i cant spell) companys....

as far as being out of date.... depending on the tank... it expires on the last day on the month before the month listed on the tank.... right now there are 3 types of tanks out there.... they are with how long they last...

carbon fiber warped (includes all wraped bottles) good for 3 years before need to be tested

carbon fiber warp under a new D.O.T. reg that are good for 5 years (this is a fairly new regulation and some places are not aware of it or how to chkeck it.. it can be found by lookin up the reg. on question)

both of the above types of bottles have a max life span of 15 years from the date it was made with no eceptions...

next you have the steel and alum. tanks.... these are good for 5 years before needing to be tested and will continue to be able to be used as long as they will pass a hydro test....

Call air america and see what company they use to hydro their tanks. I think its arround $50 to test. they give you a brand new five year fiber tank.

Challenge park actually checked your tank? I've been going there for years and they have never ever checked my tank, or the tanks of the people on my team.

Just be careful which place you take your tank and check into them and make sure they have experience with paintball systems. I took mine to a place in seattle that specialized in HPA and hydrotesting and assumed they knew something about paintball air systems and they ended up blowing all the seals and my output pressure gauge in my apocalypse and didn't tell me and i found out when i gased it up at the field. Lucily i had a back up system.

            Greetings,
Let me add to what they said:
The DOT E10915 tanks are 5 year hydro.
All other fiber wrapped ones are 3 year.

The steel stubbies built under the 3HT3000 spec are 3 year hydro also - these are the 68/3000 stubbies by crossfire and nitroduck and are actually built to an aircraft spec.

            Hope this helps.
            Cheers,
