    Standard Feed questions

    I have a few questions:

    1. Do Standard Feed Mags break alot of paint or is that just a myth?

    2. Why do they only come with 1 star valves?

    3. Are the stars really needed since Mags are so tough and durable and never break down?

    4. If a Mag does break down, is it easy to work on since most of the time it is just an O-ring that needs to be replaced?

    5. How much does it cost to have it repaired if you have to send it in to AGD and you dont have any more stars left on the valve?

    6. What kind of additional warranty besides the "stars" does AGD have?

    7. Is the valve and the whole body of the Mag made of Stainless Steel?

thanks for answering my questions, I really appreciate it, and I hope that I will enjoy my Automag, especially since coming from alot of low-end blowbacks.

    1. Yes, at higher ROF's (above 6-7) blowback starts to mess with the balls in the stack and can cause problems. There's no effective way for an SF to vent blowback gas, and it just goes up the ball stack and into the hopper. Spend the extra greenbacks and get a powerfeed. Effectively reduces blowback and keeps paint feeding.

    2. Not entirely sure, but I'd assume sine the gun itself sells for less. Including a one-star valve is a good way to keep the cost down. As each additional star adds somewhere around $40 the the price tag, as its worth a free repair. Stars aren't really a big deal, just more of an extra security feature. Anything goes wrong on a Mag, it's bound ot be an o-ring or other easily replaceable part.

    5. I think its $45 for a total rebuild fee, that includes soft parts (o-rings, bumpers, etc) There may be an additional charge for hard parts, like sears, bolts, etc.

    6. I believe when registered, all Mags and AGD products have a 90 day warranty, not related to the stars. Each time you use a star (which you shouldn't have to) there's another warranty period (not sure of time) after that, to see if any additional problems arise. If so, they will be fixed under the previous star's coverage.

    7. The mainbody is made out of stainless steel. Sometimes colored Grey, black, polished, etc. The body rail, on which the body is mounted, is aluminum. The valve is all stainless and brass. That's quality for you!

      1. Do Standard Feed Mags break alot of paint or is that just a myth?

I think that is just a myth. I don't believe they would break much more paint than a pf mag. But when you say "alot", in general, all mags kind of break more paint than many guns out there.

      2. Why do they only come with 1 star valves?

Don't really have the answer to this one, but I would guess it's because the standard mag is kind of the "economical" version of the mag.

      3. Are the stars really needed since Mags are so tough and durable and never break down?

All things are bound to break down atleast a couple times in the lifespan of the object. When one does, the stars are there for the customer's convienence because of AGD's excellent customer support.

      4. If a Mag does break down, is it easy to work on since most of the time it is just an O-ring that needs to be replaced?

Mags are by far one of the easiest guns to work on since everything involved with the mechanical firing of the gun is contained in a neat package. Most times it's just an o-ring or two that need to be changed. Most everything in mag valves are stainless steel, so it is almost impossible (unless you try) to break a piece from normal use.

      5. How much does it cost to have it repaired if you have to send it in to AGD and you dont have any more stars left on the valve?

It depends what you get repaired in your valve. Some parts cost more than others and some things will take longer to fix than others (vice versa).
      6. What kind of additional warranty besides the "stars" does AGD have?

      7. Is the valve and the whole body of the Mag made of Stainless Steel?

Yes. There are a few certain parts made from brass (pt tip, on/off (in my RT), reg. piston). There are a few aluminum parts far and wide also. Most everything is made from stainless steel, though so nothing can break easily.
