    Lots & Lots of Leakage!

Im new to the whole automag thing. I bought a used minimag w/retro not long ago. It worked alright for 2 runs on the field but there was major velocity spikes and dips. +/- 20 (my tipp Prolite had better consistancy). Not doughting the quality of AGD i figured its been pretty well abused by the previous owner.

I took the valve apart as much as one can, and give it a look over. Most of the O-rings are brown or getting there. So not having a parts kit i oiled up the inside o-rings lightly. And probably made the mistake (is it a mistake?) of wiping some of the metal-dust filled grease off the regulator springs. The only part i missed was the regulator piston and its o-ring (didn't know I could get to that unitll i read this post). This may or may not have caused the gun to leak out the back of the valve during the second time out. It leaked a little when i pressed the trigger lightly or before a shot sometimes causeing a bloop (low velocity shot). I adjusted the velocity a lil and it rarely did it again the rest of the day.
A few days later (after a trip back to home / FL) I gassed her up to tested a warp feed Im SELLING (couldn't get comfortable w/it) The thing drained 1900 psi in the 40 secs I had it gassed. It was spuing out air from the bolt. (I needed to degass my tank (for sale) for shipping anyhow :)) Anyhow. I have a parts kit on the way and plan to replace every dang o-ring in there. Is there anything else i should do? put more grease on the reg. springs?
I hope to get this thing running consistanty... Like a mag should.

Where in Florida do you live? If its close I may be able to help you out :) Also..when you gas up the RT you have to hold the trigger back when gassing it up. Otherwise..the bolt won't lock into the sear and it will leak steadily out of the powertube. As far as the grease on the spring pack..you should lightly grease the spring with a multi-purpose grease (Valvoline Bearing grease is what I use) its just to keep the spring from rusting. As far as your velocity spikes..once you get the rebuild kit and replace all o-rings include the REG SEAT, you should be good to go. Normally velocity problems occur when the reg seats gone bad. If you want you can PM me, I live in Jacksonville if thats close to you. Good luck :)

        leakage

ive learned this from experience....never ever in a million years think about using co2 in your mag it will kill it im less than 100 shots that is where you find dips and spikes in your velocity....what i had to end up doing is going to a professional airsmith at teh feild that i play at/for and get him to replace almost everything in the gun....no lie...it was around 60 bucks worth of work and than the cost of the nitrogen system....thats realyl about it...hope that this helps

          Liquid...

Ive heard that C02 will screw the gun up. I hope it doesn't need that much work. I can repalce all the o-rings my self. I don't see anything else that could be wrong. Im going to try and gas it with the trigger pulled. I didn't know that needed to be done.

NEVER USE CO2 IN AN RT VALVE! Co2 will work fine on regular valves (A.I.R./MM/Automag 68) but the RETRO REQUIRES HPA! If you're using CO2 thats your problem. I noticed you had a HPA tank thats why I didn't mention this before. You may want to hang on to that tank unless you have another HPA tank to use. If you don't and you want to use CO2 I'll trade ya for the retro lol

                LIQUID

the HPA is good...keep using it it will be a better more consistand shot and just look at ll fo the o rings and replace them if needed thats really abotu all that you can do

Replace the PT spacer with one size shorter to fix the issue of it leaking when you slightly depress the trigger. Make sure to keep the reg. seat o-ring, which is the one under the brass piece inbetween the two valve halves, clean and well oiled. That will determine your velocity consistancy. Also, grease on the spring coils does nothing but prevent rust. It won't help to add grease unless they don't have any on them at all.

                    Thanks

Thanks for the help ya'll. You're great.
Im going to replace all the o-rings. and if I still have a problem Ill look into geting a new pt spacer.
I also noticed that the bolt gets stuck half way out. About half way through the ball dent. Does that mean anything to ya'll?
                    Thanks again.
