Hey, I just bought a used RT classic, its my first automag. Anyways, I am trying to gas up the gun but when I turn on the air, it just leaks (very fast) out of the back of the valve on the bottom half of the valve. I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction to get this gun back up and in working order.

If it's leaking from the bottom edge of the back of the valve, it's not the valve that's leaking, it's the banjo bolt. This is the bolt in the back of the grip frame. Gas travels through it to the valve.
If this is it, remove it and and lube it. Then, put it back in. Do not screw it in too far. First, finger tighten it then gas up your marker. If it still leaks, get an allen wrench and slowly turn it until it stops, and no further.
If it's leaking out the whole in the middle of the back of the regulator, that is pressure venting because the velocity is turned too high or you have a bad o-ring.
Sounds to me like you're leaking out of the banjo bolt, though.Subbeh

I did some more testing and it is also leaking a little bit down the barrel. No the leak isn't comming out the little hole in the steel reg, its comming out between the body and the reg on the bottom half in back.
Thanks for the tip on the banjo, i'll take a look at that now."I aint nevea been to jail!" "What you want a cookie?"

Make sure you are giving it enough air to cock. It requires a blast of air. Try using a stick to hold the bolt tightly to the valve while gasing up. Leave the barrel off when you do this."Using No Way As Way, Having No Limitation As Limitation." -Sigung Lee

Alright, I've isolated the leak to somewhere in the general area of the banjo bolt. What I did was screw the bolt directly into the valve, without the grip frame and body in the way. I then took a small section of LP hose (cocker) and held it to the hole in the banjo bolt where the air comes from the body and into the gun. I covered up the other side of that hole and blew into the hose. The air came out the front of the powertube and no where else. However when I put everything together and blew into the macroline feeding the body, it leaked somewhere in the vicinity of the back or the grip frame/ banjo bolt area.
This being said I already replaced the o-rings on the banjo bolt and it still leaks. Could someone please take some pictures or show me a diagram of house this bolt is actually suppost to seal and look like?
This "leak" i am talking about isn't a small one. It's big enough that the gun actually never gets enough air to engange the trigger pin. It just all leaks out the back of the grip frame and the space between the valve and the body in back. I really fail to see how even a mis-shapen o-ring on the banjo bolt could cause a leak of this size. I have a feeling something is missing on my gun, because I did buy it used... I will have pictures up of my gun and banjo bolt later on today.
Thanks for your time"I aint nevea been to jail!" "What you want a cookie?"

"The Regulator Piston comes as an assembly that has a built-in blow off valve. Do not disassemble! Replace this part when air is venting out the back of your marker and you are shooting less than 300 fps." I think this just about describes your problem. Found it in the Technical Pages under the ReTro Valve Exploded Diagram. The parts can be bought at http://store.airgun.com
