I recentely decided to get my Mag's aluminum parts red anodized because I was so tired of looking at that dull black anodizing. After browsing this forum and calling numerous anodizers I decided it was too expensive to send it to a place like PK Selective($220) and would take too long to have White Wolf Airsmithing(4 weeks+) do it, so I went ahead and stripped the anodize off of all my Mag's aluminum parts. To do this I used one part Liquid Plummer to one part water in a large plastic cup. I left each piece in about 3 minutes and scrubbed it down with a toothbrush and if any anodize was left I put it back in the Lye solution(Liquid Plummer) for another 2 minutes. I then polished the pieces with my drill using a buffing wheel and some tripoli compound(like $10 for everything at Home Depot). Lastly I found a place on the Net called MasterMetal.com which anodized all 9 aluminum parts for only $65.00 and it took them only two days. The job they did was incredible. Attached is a before and after photo.

nice...
I have a few questions for you about metalmasters.com. Did they require you to have stripped and polished the parts prior to shipping it to them, or can they do all the work there. We're they nice to deal with? Good communication, etc. You said a 2 day turn around, how close are you to them?
I converted your pic to .jpg so everyone can see it without the hassle of the download.

MasterMetal.com did require that the aluminum be stripped of its original anodize. As for polishing it is up to you, if you want it polished you have to do it yourself. Otherwise you can just give it a satin finish with a wire wheel and it will have a dust anodize look to it. They don't strip or polish, but it is something that you can easily do and it also saves you like 3-4 weeks if you had one of the other companies do it for you. The owner of MasterMetal is Jeff and he was very friendly. If you are going to have to ship your gun to him aside from shipping time he will probably do the job in 2-3 days and then ship it back. Unlike 3-4 WEEKS that the others quote.
