Automag has some BIG prob's....

I have a 68 automag and this was the first time I went to a range with it. I started the day by seeing how fast it shoots, any where from 389 to 110fps. With out any adjustment... As time went on I got about 250 shoots out of a 12oz tank of co2. When I would put the tank on the gun it would start shooting out co2 out the regulator nut. It did not do any good to turn it down or up, it would keep on comming out. By noon the gun would not even cock the bolt. It is a stock gun that I got from a nother player. CAN ANYONE HELP ME... I want to be able to use the gun put with it like that I can't. Had to go back to my Tippmann98. >>>NOT GOOD<<<

thanks for any help,

sounds like liqid is getting into the reg, causing problems. the only thing i know for sure tho is that the venting means the pressure in the regulator has gotten too high. try an antisyphon/expansonc chamber/ remote

no offense...

u sound like a newbie, and this is like a classic newbie question. 'mags+CO2-(x-pansion chamber), reg and/or remote=pooh. co2 first comes into the regulator, and that's not a lot of time for it to turn into a gas. freeze up ur reg and ur screwed until everything warms back up. this is why u need an in-line regulator, x-pansion chamber, remote, high pressure, or any combination in between. do this, and u too will see the pimpness of 'mags.
it explains this in ur manual.
Drive it like you stole it.
Shoot it like you borrowed it.

Also, you might need a new reg-seat.

It could be a really bad case of liquid in which case a x-chamber or remote would cure it but it sounds worse than that. You could also try replacing the reg seat and if that still doesn't work it could be a bad spring pack. I've never seen one go bad but I think it would have results like what you're describing.

Reg Seat

That problem is caused by a dirty or damaged reg seat, it is the little plastic piece that looks like a hockey puck with a hole in it. To get to it just unscrew the regulator half from the rest of the valve body, it should be right there. First clean it off, then if that does not fix your problem replace it. It is always a good idea to carry a spare parts kit in your toolbox. If this does not fix it then the problem may lie in the reg, either the piston or the spring pack. If changing the seat does not fix the problem then send it in to AGD, I guarantee you they will fix it.

YES, I am a NEWBIE <with automag>

Should I go Nitrogen only.(I would have to get a fill station) Are should I go CO2 in a remote with a expansion chamber. I ordered an AUTOMAG PARTS KIT to get all new O-ring's in it. I would like to play this winter and it gets cold up here. What about the REACTOR ON/OFF ASSEMBLY? They say it will help in, SUB-ZERO PLAY WITH CO2, HIGH PRESSURE AND NITROGEN, RECHARGES INSTANTLY, INCREASES CONSISTENCY, LIGHTENS TRIGGER PULL, REDUCES BALL DROP OFF. Does anyone know about Reactor???
What expansion chamber to get???
What Fill station for Nitrogen to get???
Can I run Nitrogen in my expansion chamber???

Welcome to AO. If you can, get nitro, but its not necessary. ALL aftermarket valve and bolt upgrades are worthless with the exception of the ReTro valve and just mayb the z-valve. I hear those ACI 6-Stage's are good but if you have the money and aren't going for nitro you can get a palmer stab. ACI and TASO both make good fill stations. There's no real reason why you could run nitrogen through your expansion chambre but most people run a foregrip with nitrogen. One more thing. You may want to get an angled bottomline like the KAPP teardrop. An antisiphon is also another reccomendation.

Taking mags apart is fun, its even more fun when you don't know what you're doing

C02

When you put co2 into a tank the pressure in the tank rises, I know, duh. But this increase in pressure causes the co2 to enter a liquid state. As the outside temperature decreases the amount of co2 in the tank that is in a gaseous state decreases. I do not know what the boiling point of co2 is under pressure, but if the temperature is below zero then I don't think anything aside from a heat source for your tank will help.

I have no idea which expansion chambers are good or not, I also have no experience with fill stations, any of the Crossfire tanks are quality for a low price. The best value is probably the Flatline system. You can run the nitrogen through an expansion chamber, but why, the nitrogen does not need the room to expand, it won't hurt, but it won't really help either.
