    barrels for distance and silence...

i already know that I will be using Lapco barrels for my day to day work.

what I would like is a barrel that can give me distance and accuracy and another barrel that can give me silence.

i have used the J&J ceramic and have found it to be very quiet. is there anything more quiet that will help me stay hidden?

what about a good sniper barrel for long distance shots? Don't care about loudness for the long distance shot, just accuracy and distance.

Let me be the first to break it to you. Barrels have nothing to do with distance. Any marker shooting at a given FPS will shoot as far as any other at the same FPS. The only exeptions to this rule are the tippman flatline and the galactic Zbody mag.

However for silence I would go with an old style All American 14in. Lots of large porting to help keep it quieter.

Also it would be a good idea to use the search feature. You'll turn up more results faster with most of your questions.

No barrel will give you better accuracy or distance. Quiet = longer barrel and more porting at the cost of lessened gas efficiency.

Accuracy and distance depend on velocity control... proper paint/barrel match gives better velocity control = better accuracy.

Thanks, I know how to search and had done so before posting. Unfortunately, no one else had stated what you have so concisely. I was fishing for an "exception" like the flatline for the automag if there was one.

        Thanks!

when I was a newbie back in the day, my local dealer told me the longer the barrel the farther the distance(and more expensive of course), that punk......

I laugh about it now....I always go around and make sure he(plus dealers in general) doesnt tell it to anyone else though , I often get to a store and see a dealer trying to scam newbies...

An SP barrel will eat gas though, and your not going to stay hidden with anything. Hmm, those balls are comming from behind that tree. I don't here him shooting, so I guess he isn't there, where oh where could be be.

Well, actually physics says you CAN get more range if you shoot heavier (denser, actually, the volume has to stay the same) paintballs. With the same volume/size, the same air resistance occurs, while the extra weight means more momentum/inertia for the air resistance to overcome, meaning it slows down in the air at a slower rate. I wouldn't expect much more to come from it though, maybe 5 feet or so?

Incidentally, did anyone ever see if there was a difference between "dry shell" and "wet shell" paintball trajectories due to air resistance caused by the greasy film on the "wet" paint? I know this sounds a bit like a Deep Blue reply and is a bit off topic, but I'm curious.

                No, it does not matter.

Yeah, but a heavier ball = more force upon impact = safety concerns.

The industry has it capped at around 3.something grams.

So who wants to get shot with a marble at 300fps?
