ok my friend has this mag that he wants to run on co2. He has a cp lightning drop with a long macroline running from the drop to the valve. Will this keep out most of the co2 or does he need more.

if you are gonna run co2 get an expansion chamber, remote, or run it strait into the vertical asa.

      Your friend, sure sure. :)
As stated above. It may work with what you have, you just have to remember to keep the ROF down. Not play in really cold wheather, and don't point it down, as to spill the liquid into the gun.

You might also want to use steel braided hose when running co2. The macroline will burst with co2 in the line if left in the sunlight for a short amount of time.

do yourself a favor and get a preset tank!! I ran my mag on co2 for 2 years with a remote and I hated it. With the price of preset tanks now adays its the best investment you could make.

Probably the best single thing you can do with CO2 is run an anti-siphon tank (if you look in the Automag manual, you'll note that it says to use an anti-siphon if you run CO2 without a remote). For more info on siphon/anti-siphon tubes see here: http://www.docsmachine.com/tech/siphon.html

The best thing to do is try it and see how it works. A logical progression would be anti-siphon/remote; x-chamber; regulator (something like a Palmer Stabilizer that virtually guarantees to stop liquid); funky custom setup like btautomag has. You may do fine with a minimal setup, or it might take everything I just listed to get it to work. You'll just have to try and see. Be aware that for the price of a good CO2 inline reg you may find it more cost effective to buy a cheap HPA tank.

              he's right.

Depending on how available HPA is, and how many shots you take in a single game, you might want to look into getting an HPA tank.
