    the next step

i have been playing paintball for about three years and am now seriously considering stepping it up a notch. im posting for technical help as well as some advice so i appreciate any time you give on reading this especially if you can answer any of my questions.

anyhoo ive pretty much finalized my decision on the mag RT pro. my first question is what is the difference between the mag RT and the mag RT pro? frequently i see the mag RT pro cheaper than the mag RT but i dont understand since it seems pro would add some more features hence a price increase. also when i get compressed air what type of psi would be ideal for the mag RT pro? do you have any suggestions for any specific compressed air systems?

and lastly ive seen and used the response trigger on the model 98 custom but ive heard alot of people saying the response trigger for the mag RT pro is different. can anybody clarify this?

if youre a mag RT pro owner is there anything else i should know or you would consider a must purchase for the marker? thanks in advance for anything

oh and i almost forgot has anyone seen a mag RT pro selling for anything under $539?

First off, welcome to the AO family. I hope you enjoy your marker and share your time with us here in this forum.

The RT and the RT Pro operate under the same basic principle. The RT is the older model and is no longer being manufactured. The RT uses a gas-through body rail and banjo/field strip screw to supply the air to the RT valve. The RT Pro has a supply tap on the side of the valve.

The RT and RT Pro only use HPA or N2. I cannot possibly stress the damage which may come from using CO2 with either marker.

The usual input to the RT valve spans 700+psi, the higher the input presure, the more reactive the trigger. Any good HPA tank will do, but if you really wish to adjust the trigger's reactivity, you really need a adjustable tank.

*Shameless Plug* Have I mentioned AGD also makes HPA tanks? Yes, AGD has 3000psi and 4500psi Flatline regulator tanks with several different tank sizes for your needs *Shameless Plug*

Few people input higher pressure into the RT valve to get/find the "sweet spot" to "bounce" the trigger. I have to itterate that this is not what the RT valve was designed for and doing so may cause undue wear on the bolt and sear. The RT valve returns the trigger with more pressure than was required to squeeze the trigger, which allows for faster trigger-pull rates. The higher the input pressure to the valve, the higher the trigger return pressure or trigger kick.

If you are lucky, try to get the newer manufactured RT Pro, as it comes with a 45 style double trigger grip frame.

As a former RT Pro owner, I highly recommend you purchase the Lvl 10 bolt upgrade, since mags are notorious for being hard on paint. With a properly tuned Lvl 10 bolt, you will be able to use even the brittlest of paint without chopping. I know, I love use HellFire and Evil.
