for some reason or another my mag will not break when it hits somone. The velocity is high enough cause my range is fine but i bounce eerytime unless im like 20 feet away or i hit somethign hard like a mask or a gun. It did this with a 47 3000 crossfire and a 47 3000 PMI. My setup is a TKO mag with a J&J ceramic, and a remote + revvy. This happened with 3 diffrent types of paint (marbs BE and hotshot) and its driving me crazy. Anyone know whats going on? what do i do?!?

are u sure that your velocity isn't dropping off? fire a string of rapid fire at the chrony station then immediatly chrony your gun. are u running a secondary reg? if so that may be the problem. -
When paint bounces, its usually the quality of the paint, not the equipment. Many factors affect the quality of the paint.
The paint shell design, storage temperature, moisture, and age are the most common things that affect paint performance.
Maybe the place where you purchase your paint has old paint or poor methods or storage. Try buying from someone else and see if it makes a difference.Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.Comment

its not the paint because this happed with 2 batches of marbs; 1 batch of BE; and 1 batch of Hot spot. These werent all from the same place either.
No one else is having the same problem.
im storing the paint in sealed bags at room tempature.
The weather has recently gotten a little cooler (from like the 80's to the 60's).
My velocity also recentley dropped off and i had to turn it way up which i thought was weird. Also, does any one know for sure that Hoppes # 9 oil is bad for a mag because i used some on it before (the local store owner said it was okay but i want a second opinion)...
I tried changing the title i dont think it workedComment

Paint just doesn't bounce depending on the gun it is fired out of. If it is fired at the recommended velocity of 250 - 280 fps then it should break on any firm surface. The temperature variance shouldn't impact your mag very much, especially since you are running HPA anyway. Having to turn the velocity up to use another paint could be due to the difference in the diameter of the paint.
What was the weather like when you were using the different types of paint?
I'm not fammiliar with Hot Shot paint but I know BE will bounce. Marbs are usually pretty good but as any paint they need to be fresh. Wet weather or humidity will affect the ability of the shell to shatter on impact.Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.Comment

ok ive shot prdominatley marbs through my mag, and i think they were pretty fresh when they were bouncing. Now that i really think about it, i cant ever remember my mag breakign on a 'softer' surface such as a person, all the breaks i got were on my freinds guns and masks and stuff. i cant belive how much im bouncing with this thing i bounced liek 8 off my freind the other day. this is driving me crazy what should i do? I mean the stuff breaks when it like hits a bunker but not a person...
Now that i think about it i think that velocity drop off came after i put hopes #9 oil into my valve where it says 'oil here' rather convinetley. I wonder if that did anythign

I'm not familiar with hoppes gun oil, but I use airtool oil in my mag as do most mag users. You can get a good airtool oil at most hardware stores. It is fairly inexpensive and helps maintain the integrity of your o-rings and seals. Airtool oil is designed for high pressures and to lubricate seals. Other oils may dissolve your o-rings or cause them to swell abnormally.Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.Comment

Have you tryed to Bounce test your paint before you put it in the gun? If not take about 10 balls and 1 at a time drop them from about waist high on a hard surface, try to catch the ball before it makes a second bounce, and repeat until it breaks. Do this for all 10 balls and get the average. I think most RPMarbs are 4-5 when fresh(havent played for a few years shell may have changed), iny paint with a 8+ bounce will be hard to break on the body. You could try to shoot some brittle shell tourny paint with a 2-3 bounce rate but if your not running a level 10 mod you may break paint. Good luckGreat Traders: RogueFactor,DoobieComment

I played last weekend with 0 bounce 7 month old paint. Lvl 10 = NOOOOOO breaks. Gotta luv the level 10.
As for your problem with the no breaking.....It seems weird that you can get the distance but the balls wont break???
I could understand it if the distance was low, but if that isnt a problem I wouldn't know where to start. Try buying paint from another store, and do the bounce test with your existing paint.Comment

ok i really wish i had tought about the bounce test thing before i shot all those marbs. But im gonna take it to the store nest time and have them chronie it to see how its shooting. Im also gonna try anoter type of paint or imay buy it somewhere else.Comment

um.. this might be a stupid question.. but what are your friends wearing during games?? are you playing outdoors?? are they all bumdled up?? maybe the paint ins't breaking because the clothes are 2 loose. I shot my friend by accident
with marbs, and he was less than 20 feet from me.. and it didn't break cause it bounced off his pants.. now.. Im shooting at 285fps and less than 20 feet.. but it still didn't break.
just my 2 cents.. maybe its pointless.. but just wanted to say it.Comment
