I'm sure you've heard it before..

Shoot both, and go with what you like.

Shoot a whole box of paint if you have to, or better yet take each to the field for a day.

I have not got to shoot a micromag, but I can't get my rhythm up on a 'cocker. So I'd say go with the Mag.

both guns are great guns. seems like you're already biased towards mags so just go ahead and get the micro. can't really go wrong either way, just preference.

Also, do you like to take stuff apart and fine tune stuff? I don't know about you but I love to. That's the only part about my mag that I don't like, there is nothing to fine tune. Cockers are great for fine tuning. Mags are great for people that don't want to tweak their gun to make it work. Hope this helps!

Pretty much what other's have said. If you like to fidget with your gun then get a cocker. If you like to grab your gun and go play a not worry about constant hissing noises go with a mag. I had a cocker, and while the trigger felt sweet and the clacking noise it makes when it shoots is cool I had to mess with it all the time and it constantly leaked from the 3 way. I bought all new pneumatics and the leak just moved. I sat down and looked over Ravi's cocker site and messed with it and it still did'nt work right. I took it to a local "cocker expert and it worked ok until I got it home. Needless to say I have never had the urge to throw something off a cliff more. That's my story...

Now I've heard they're great if you never touch them but if that's the case, why not get a mag?

Then again millions of cocker players can't be all wrong can they?

Yeah I would go for a Mag. If this is your back-up marker, you would want one that you don't have to fiddle with all the time.

If you had the Mag you could just have it in your case and you wouldn't have to worry about timing it or tinkering with it.

You can easily find leaks and fix problems on a Mag. With a cocker it takes more difficulty.

So I would go for the Mag over a Cocker...but that's just me . Go with what you like more...as the guy above said...shoot both of them. Cockers with hinges are supposed to be cool.

                Go with the MAg

I have both guns. I would get a Mag. I can take it out of the case and shot it every time. The autococker may take me 20 minutes to get it times and shotting fine. Take my word get a Mag.

and i could get the cocker for $334
                  sto 3way $40
                  sto ram$40
                  hinge $100

                  $ 515 for all that

                  but the mag would be
                  gun $500
                  gas thru $40?

Dude, just get what you want. When you get ready to chunk the cocker against the wall then sell it (cockers do have a better resale value) and buy what you should have gotten in the first place.

                    You did ask for opinions.

Microcockers are cool too. That will be my next gun once I decide to sell mine at the end of the season.

Or you can buy an RT Pro for 579 and it comes with an Intelliframe. I started off with a minimag, bought a cocker, sold the minimag, bought an impulse, sold an impulse, bought an RT with intelliframe, bought an Angel all in the span of the last 10 months. It's all preference dude. I love both guns, each have their unique characteristics. I use my cocker more than the RT because I just like how it sounds. I also bought my cocker because of my fascination of the sliding trigger.

Oh, and the only difference between the stock pneus and the STO pneus is the chrome plating. So if you want to save money I'd hold off on that. And don't forget Dye stickies for the cocker (dunno if they come with the hinge).

is your primary gun a mag?

if it is, stick with a mag as a backup...then you wont have to buy two parts kits, and carry around ravi's 27 (or somewhere around that) trouble-shooting guide

course, the guys ARE right...shoot em both...keep the one that you do best with

With that breakdown I'd actually go for the cocker, I love Mags, but I'm really not that fond of the Pro-Team stuff, it's also a bit overpriced. As to reliability, my RetroMag has been far worse than my 99 cocker was, albeit it's not the mag's fault, but the previous owners (I mean who puts a Power-Tube Spring in a Retro Valve?).

The Hinged Cocker is bang-for-buck a better deal than a MicroMag, if you're going to get a Mag in the same price range as a Micro, go for an RT Pro, which is even better than a Hinged Cocker (The hinged cocker feels alot like a mag, trigger wise.)

Contrary to popular opinion the STO pneumatics are different from stock pneumatics in one way, the internals of the Ram and 3-way are polished, making them far smoother, and the Ram is faster, the switch length of the STO 3-way is shorter than the stock one too.
