i've bought my TKO mag from www.paintballgear.com for $260. I think it's cheaper now but really a warranty is better on the mini but if it's going to be discontinued then sooner or later replacement parts will be more expensive and rare! My friend had the mini and I have the regular and there was no difference between the two. Plus, in time you will be adding so many upgrades that you will not notice the difference. Really, the difference is only cosmetic.

The automag and the minimag are functionally indentical. They use the same internals except the valve is engraved with 4 stars instead of 1. The minimag body is cosmetically different as well.

The basic standard powerfeed automag is just the gun. The basic minimag comes with a front vertical ASA and stainless gas line running from the ASA to the valve. The mini also comes with a short barrel as well.

The minimag body is not slated to be discontinued any time soon. They had been discontinued but popular demand brought them back.

Its your personal choice that will ultimately determine the one for you. I think the minimag is a better deal plus you have better resale value if you decide to sell it in the future.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

No question is a dumb question.

Yes, the minimag uses the same twist lock barrel as any automag. The only mags that use different barrels are the new aluminum Extremes and the Proteam Products Micromags. These use a cocker threaded barrel.

You should get an Intelliframe and a retro valve plus a level 10 bolt kit. Actually, if you are going to be upgrading anyway, to save money get a retro mag. They come with a retro valve and an intelliframe. There is no faster or more reliable mechanical marker anywhere than the retro mag.

Get a level 10 bolt kit. No chops at all. Then save up for an intelliframe.

yea, good choice on getting the minimag (it's what i gots) so if you wanna look cool, get the classic, if you wanna look sexy, get the minimag. terms of upgrades, good choice on the 10in freak, i made the mistake of getting a 12 inch all american, next barrel is def gonna be 10 inches, if not 8 (kinda got used to the stubby ol stock barrel) terms of other upgrades, def get compressed air, if you're in the north like me, it's starting to get cold out, and well liquid Co2 in a mag sounds like a cartoon car dieing(not quite that bad, but it's no fun) i'm not that far in my upgrade process, but all i can tell you is what my gun will look like when i'm done, not what you should get, (all polished/chrome stuff, but that's me) all american barrel (now, hopefully 10in freak like you plan in the future), compressed air(crossfire now, flatline later), intelliframe, retro valve, lvl10 bolt, warp feed w/ warp body. oh and a ricochet hopper is what i have running it, you kinda need an electro hopper if you don't have 1 (most people do these days though, least around here they do) well that's kind of long, but i hope that will help you in your path.

Yes, get an agitating hopper. I keep forgetting to mention this because I just take it for granted that every gun has one. Mags do run on air much better than CO2 so a compressed air tank should be your source of compressed gas.

yea, thanks for all the help. I should be getting some more money and the freak is the first thing i'm getting. I already have a 12v X-Board Revvie. Next will probably be a palmer's stabalizer and compressed air.
