    Nitro Question

I am purchasing a nitro tank for my mag, however i still wish to use co2 at times and have an expansion chamber on the gun. Is there any problem with running nitro through the expansion chamber, the same way as with co2? Also, is there anything I must do to convert the gun for use with N2?

No, your gun is ready for N2. As for the x-chamber, it should not give you a problem.

        Nitro Question

How many shots will a mag get out of a 48ci/3000 tank? I've been told around 500, is this accurate?

          500 is possible.....

as a general rule of thumb for figuring shots per tank use this

10 X ci of tank for 300psi tanks
          ie.. 10 X 48(ci at 3k psi) = 480
this would be a good guess as the type of barrel(how much or how little porting it has) and paint to barrel match along with the fps your are shooting at

Well...as long as we're along the line of nitro/co2 interchanging...
I'm gonna run mostly nitro on my mag when I buy it and maybe co2 if I need to. A lot of the fields around me don't fill n2. If I switch to co2 would I freeze up using a remote and a foregrip?

A remote should clear up most if not all liquid CO2 problems. You get a lil expansion in a foregrip, which should be a nice lil final buffer. You will still get CO2 freeze up if you shoot fast enough, no way to avoid that with CO2.

For all you folks with Nitro that are worried about your local field being able to fill your tank, I suggest your own fill station. Get a SCUBA tank, and one of the SCUBA fill adaptors, whole setup should be around $200. You can only get 3000psi fills, and after each fill you get a bit less each time. But you should be ok for a day of small games off a single SUCBA tank. SCUBA fills are super cheap, maybe $3. And a field that can't fill Nitro should have no problems letting you fill your own.

                Nitro Question

My mag, even with an Ex. Chamber, runs bad on CO2. After a string of maybe ten shots, the valve starts to freeze, which wastes a ton of gas. Doesn't happen in warm weather, but any time its a little cooler outside this happens. Never used a remote, I don't know if that would fix things. One thing to try is put an angled, rather than straight, tank adapter on-- this helped with mine.

An anti-siphon tank will help alot with co2, you can uaually pick the kit up ai paintballgear.net, or bbtpaintball. I was not happy with my mag on co2, it always froze, so I went to compressed air. I have a scuba tank and fill station, I bought the tank used for $50 and the fill station for $60(?) so that saved some money. I also have acess to a fill station to fill the scuba tank which also saves me cash.

The only problem I ever had with CO2 was some tank freeze after a _lot_ of shooting. I ran remote with a good X-Chamber (AA Wispering Death). A Mag is a dream come true on Nitro. However, CO2 remote with an X-Chamber is not so bad, and a lot cheaper to setup.

Don't get a 48, get at least a 68,Crossfires is the same size as a PMI 48. You will get 400-450 shots out of a 48, based on experience (I have a PMI 48, too damned small.) The X-Chamber won't give you problems unless you are stupid fast on the trigger, then you will see some mild shootdown (10+bps only)

Actually, thats plenty. The tourneys my team plays in have five minute games, and I never go through more than that in a single game. And it's no problem to get a fill after each game.
