    Question about tanks

OK, I hope someone here knows the answer.

Steve from Aerostar sold me a screw in adjustable nitro duck last week. It was leaking slowly from the low pressure gauge, and he said he'd take it off and fix it for me. Well, he was at World Cup this week, so I had Timmy take off the gauge for me so I could teflon tape it and put it back.

When he got it off, about 1/2 an inch of the threads were stripped off the inside. I was watching him do it, and the thing came out relatively easily, no excessive force was used. I also can't see any loctite on the gauge.

Do you think the gauge was just put in badly? Someone said it might have been screwed in too hard when it was put together, but I'm not sure. I'm going to take it to Steve next week when he comes back, but if it's something I've done to screw it up, obviously I don't want to ask him to replace it. Bear in mind it *was* leaking before we took the gauge off, so there was *something* wrong with it in the beginning.

I guess I just want to know if anyone has seen anything like this before, and what caused it. The hole is almost smooth for 1/2 an inch or so down, the threads were stripped so bad.

If you dident take the gauge off before the leak started than it isint your problem. The gauge was probaly cross-threaded at the factory, it happens from time to time.
