    Crack Qd?

Picked up my gun today, and i screwed in some gas and it started pouring outta my female quick dissconnect! Looked at it, and its cracked down the side! All the way through to the threads! Solid metal should not crack, and i didnt drop it or anything like that. I didnt leave it and any extreme temperatures.

There is a catch though. I bought this gun used from National Paintball Supply (couldnt pass up the price). I have played some games with it, and it worked flawlessly. I dont know how it cracked, but what should i do?

Its like a $14 part on airgun.com, and i dont think i can get it anywhere else (online stores). Should i call AGD and tell them what happened? Or will they force me to buy the part? I cant send any emails to them because they have too many unanswered emails.

    Thanks guys

    Many options

It sounds like the result of the hose being tightened too tightly into the QD.

Unless you buy a $14.00 Stainless Steel version chances are you will get brass (about $6.00 at any number of on-line vendors)which is subject to the same type of failure in the future, if overtightened.

While I do NOT profess to be an airsmith I will say that in my experience this can easily be avoided in the future by careful application of either a liquid or solid (tape) based sealant to the (male) threads prior to assembly. Oh, and then don't forget to use **reasonable** force to tighten the two parts together. They need not be so tight you have to strain to tighten them (unless you are a real wimp), just "very snug" should do fine.

Then gas the hose up (re install it if necessary) and check for leaks. IF it leaks, tighten the connection in SMALL increments (maybe an 1/16th of a turn?) just until it stops leaking.

That happened to me once too. The brass just owre out, I suppose. Sucky thing was it was during a tourney...started with a little hiss, then everything went real fast. No biggie...just replace it, and youre good to go.
