This can't work - Can it?

I found this new barrel whilst surfing, How can it make a difference?

Surely the insert part isn't long enough to do anything?

all it can really do is hold the ball steady and get a good initial push.

I met the guy who makes these... he also makes some really nice gun stands.

I have my doubts about the ball sizing thing... but he claims that it works. I still have serious doubts

the biggest problem I see with that barrel.......lets say you have small paint. it fits nicely, the world is a good place. then you buy some larger paint. The bearing system they have has to expand in someway to accomadate the larger paint. this will make small gaps in the seams of the bearings. this will allow gas to escape around the paintball where the gaps are. less effcient and this could also cause velo inconsistancies.

another problem with this (and all insert systems) that I see is the need for a large bore barrel. The barrel after the bearings/inserts needs to be larger then the max insert/ bearing pass through. Based on this I feel that it would be better to have 3 or 4 barrels of different sizes to match to paint. But prices being what they are I will probably compromize and buy a long back or long insert system like a J&J edge or Freak system.

For reference look at the barrel that the Z mag recommends to keep the balls spinning, it's a sewer pipe.

that is a good point.........but that happens with all stepped bore barrels. The boomstick, SP AA, J&J two peice, JT two-peice. all the same issue, but it doesn't effect things are much if you have a good paint match. the first 6 inches will do all the excellerating.
