    How do people "polish" things?

When someone says they have "meticulously polished" the body, the sear, etc. What process are they doing?

I'm sure there are many ways, but, just looking for some idea of what that means.

    Thanks.

first and foremost, DONT, DONT, DONT, DONT! polish the sear!
    NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER!

polishing can be done with a dremel or with some sandpapre...starting high grit, finshing low grit

I would not polish the sear!! As far as the body goes, try a polishing wheel, use black compound to "cut", and green compound to "color", which is to bring to a mirror polish!! And metal refinishing place can do this cheaply!!

I use brasso, jewlers rouge polishing compound and 1500-2000 grit wet sanding paper.

              blast gray finish

Do these same methods work in removing the "blast"grey finish found on some mags?

just to clarify this, you start low, then work your way up, not the other way around. if you think about it, it makes sense.
