    Problem with 2000 MicroMag

Ok I've got a buddy that's having bad trouble with his micro.

I'm fairly sure it's a 2000 model - it's a verticle feed and I think 2000 was the first year they were available.

It's not at Level 10 yet, cash flow problem.

It's got an ANS bolt in it right now - I know I'm goning to change it for him soon etc.

    Anyway on to the problem.

There is a large amount of movement in the chamber area. What I'm try to describe is when a paintball drops into the chamber it can roll forward 1/4" or so before it is stopped by the ball detent.

I'll try to take some pics of this soon.

Anyway he's got a Halo A on it and it's a blender - doesn't matter if he's shooting slow or fast. Chops no matter who's pulling the trigger.

I've shot a hopper or 2 through it with a Revy and no chops.

I was just wondering if anyone out there has had any experience with this type of problem.

    Thanks
    Barry

I've got a 2000 too, so they are near and dear to my heart. You need get a srtonger detent spring. Call PTP and they should set you up. The standard spring isn't usually strong enough for a Halo. Also, ditch the ANS and get a LX bolt.

Either get the Halo b upgrade or intellilink a revy x board, to solve your other problem.

I too had chopping problems in both a older micromag and a micromag2000 vert. I think I have it fixed. I use an older j&j ceramic and it had a sharp mouth and most of the barrels I have are a real lose fit into the body.

Here are 2 different fixes I've used for these conditions.
      1. Make a circular shim to go into the body that the barrel will slip into. The first time I used 3 layers of aluminum from a soda can. I have since then replaced it with a piece of brass tubing 0.012" thick.
This keeps the barrel aligned in the body.

      2. Bevel the end of the barrel that goes into the body. Bevel both the inside and the outside edge. Beveling the inside helps the paint enter the barrel, my J&J was sharp here. Beveling the outer edge allowed me to use an automag barrel o-ring inside the body to screw the barrel up against, both aligning the barrel and helping to keep the barrel tight.

Mod 1 replaced mod 2 in my guns. I lent my gun to a friend and he lost the o-ring (mod 2) and my gun became a blender again. Now I have the brass shim and it's harder to lose.

I wasn't able to do alot of testing because I upgraded to LX shortly after that. I still have the shims in my guns though.

      Hope this helps, Grumps.
