    12v mod problem

I recently installed a 12v mod on my warp, i did everything correctly (according to the posts on AO) and i used 2 100v capacitors also. The problem i had was battery dranage. I put 2 brand new 9 volts in the mod and in a matter of 1.5 days (without using it) the batteries were all but dead. Is it normal for the mod to drain battery power so fast? Or are u sopposed to put the batteries in only during warp use?
    Thanks for the help

Yup. I don't know what the drain for a 12v reg + the warp circut is, but I wouldn't leave the batteries in when not in use. NiMh rechargables keep you from owning stock in duracel.

Install a simple SPST toggle switch in one of the main battery leads. This will allow you to disconnect the batteries when not in use. Hope this helps...

a toggle switch would be great, the only prob with that is i can bairly fit the mod batteries and extra connectors in the warp itself. There is no way a switch would also fit. Unless you have some handy installation advise.

        Thanks

it may change slightly for the regulator you used, but for the LM317T adjustable regulator. it has a min load current of 3.5 mA. that coupled with whatever the warp circuit is would drain your batts pretty fast. (the average 9 volt batt has about 110mAH of charge.)

          110/3.5 = aprox 31 hours!

          hope that wasn't too nerdy

ringmasta187 - sorry to get off topic, but your sig is too big(around 15k is fine but your around 150k) and it's also customary to only use your sig once per page for the dial-up folks.
