    Warp Mods: Battery Pack Ideas

well i have a warp, and now i am looking into ways of powering it. I have done some searches but nothing i am looking for. what i want to do is: use a 9.6v NI-Mh pack, cause i have a charger for one, and i want it to fit in the warp some how, so is there a way to make one, get one made, or cut one up and solder things to make it fit. I saw the 10.8v one that AGDe sells but, that you need the charger and it will be pricey. I think i can get a connector and solder the wires to the standard 9v warp harness and make it connect, but i am trying to figure out a way to put it in the warp!

    Thanks in advance,
    TNS2k2

Yes, a 9.6v pack will power the warp nicely!! You'll just have to get creative in where and how to fit it!! My suggestion is to solder up an adapter for your connections, that way, you have not hacked up any of the original wires, and can switch between your 9.6v pack and a standard 9v battery if you have to!!!

yeah, but getting a 9.6 into the warp is my problem...
i know that you mean though, 9v connector to 9.6v connector dealy, so in emergencies i can switch. now is their a way to get it to fit in their

all you want to power is the warp, the plainview 9.6 volt NiMh batteries are fine. Two of those (in parallel) with connectors will just fit in the warp. Here is a link to the plainview 9 volts:

If you want to mount a battery pack outside the warp you have many more options. Here is a link to some AA's with solder tabs (I couldn't find AAA's, but someone must make them).

There is also a place that will custom make you a battery pack. They are geared toward RC cars, but I don't think they care what you use it for.

Well... I came up with some more Ideas.
I am gonna make a pack out of AAA's Ni-MH with solder tabs.
It is only gonna be 650 mah, so it wont last that long, but i am making another dealy for back up.

so my plan. the 9v connector in the warp is gonna be connected to another one just like it. the same idea as the 12v harness. but i am soldering on a clip that is on most RC Car Batteries, called tamiya/kyosho connectors. that is the same type of connector that is on my charger, for 9.6v's and 7.2v's Nicd/NiMH batteries. so i can use my charger still. now that little harness is my failsafe, incase my battery dies, i can use a 9v.

the battery pack is an 8 cell pack, which equals 9.6 volts, and is NI-MH so i can charge withought developing memory.
when i get this finished, i will post pics and give credit to who is helping me, but if he doesnt want to be credited he will remain nameless. I also think that we should post all our Hacks/ways to power Warps so that others can learn from it, and make this a sticky.

Here's my walk through for using a regular 9.6v 1600maH rc battery, an on-off-on switch, and a dc-powerplug for connection. Also I'm still looking to find AAA tabbed cells to make a smaller lighter pack..

If you're making packs.. tabs are only usefull for stick packs. Ideally run to the hobby shop, pick up some tinned copper plate and cut your own "battery bars". Lower internal resistance, better charging as well... I"m looking into producing these packs, for internal use in warps. 650mah... the two 9 volt dealiy will only provide you with 130-150mah. Probally less due to the high amp draw....

I can do chargers for $10 a pop... Do you guys think $30 a pack is a resonable price?

Well Nerobro, i am your Beta tester, and i think this is a really great idea. now, would you have done this if i didnt come crying to you for help?? j/k, but for 40 bux, for pack and charger...you cant go wrong, look at the packs that AGDe is selling that is pretty pricy. When i get mine, i will post pics of it. Mine is the prototype so it wont look as pretty. I have since then been told that they will be shrunk wrapped. Thanks Nerobro, and anyone who wants one, contact nerobro at... [email protected]
Pics to come, as well as performance review.
