    System X X-10 DF question

Bought a new System X X-10 drop forward with the on-off valve this afternoon to go with the new warp feed and hooked my crossfire 88/3000 tank up to it. Problem is, whenever I screw the tank in fully, it gasses up the gun, no matter what position the on-off valve is in. Kind of defeats the purpose of an on-off valve if you can't use it and I don't like the idea of the tank being a couple of turns lose.

Anyone run into something of this nature and know any fixes for it?

Try putting an o-ring into the ASA before you screw your tank in. Smart Parts also makes an On/off adapter that you place between the screw in tank and ASA, wouldn't be as good looking but would give you on/off abilities.

I'll try the o-ring tonight, but I don't want to end up getting something else, like the SP on-off adapter. The X-10 set me back $60 and I can't take it back to the store, as I've opened the package, screwed a fitting into it, etc. Thanks for the quick response!

You might want to make sure the pin is unscrewing all the way also. With the tank off put your finger in the ASA and unscrew it and see if the pin is backing all of the way out. I had a KAPP one that was a little tight and wouldn't unscrew sometimes. Good luck

Found out what the problem is. The on-off pin in the DF is too long. Now, next question, I'm wondering how the pin was treated, if I can take a rotary tool to it and grind off a 1/16, that should solve the problem.

I also tried the o-ring, it backed the bottle out, but not quite enough. Later, when I checked the pin, I found that the o-ring had worked into the threads and bacame pinched. So, the o-ring is a no-go.

Sorry the O-ring trick didn't work, sounds like you need a Dremel now!

              Success!

w00t w00t! Pulled the Rotary tool out (Craftsman, of course! ), put a cutting disk on it and took approx. 1/16th of an inch of material off the end of the on-off pin. Success, I can screw the tank in completely, and use the on-off screw now. Only problem, I have to break in the o-rings on the on-off pin! Much better now.

              Thanks for the assist, Chuck!
