Calm down, take a deep breath... Everything will be fine ... If you're that worried about stripping the threads, then don't get an Xvalve
I'm way too old for this ****.

tom, the threads should hold up.

on my mayhem, the front frame screw does basically the same thing, it holds a chunk of metal on thats under a lot of stress. it took two years of repeated banging with 175 lbs of force to strip (thank god for carbon-steel inserts...).

i dont think the mag puts quite that much force on the screw.

EDIT: BTW, overtightening shouldnt be your worry, you wont do much with your fingers. but if its under-tightened, there may be enough play in the screw to do damage.

I'm pretty sure he's putting out the aluminum valves because of the new aluminum alloy, forget what number but it's the strongest yet.

        I wouldn't be worried guys.

i doubt it, mort high performance alloys dont take pigments too well. the 6000 series anno the best (6061 beging the most common alloy)

On the issue of an insert, I can tell you that it is impossible. There is just no room outboard of the threads. Cant drill it anymore.

Just thought I'd bring this back to the top.

Has anyone worn out the threads in the field-strip hole on their X-valve?
