    co2 in hpa tank

what would happen if you filled an hpa tank with co2. newbie sounding question, i know, but would anything real bad actually happen. i thought that if an hpa tank can hold 3000 psi, and co2 isn't near that, what bad could happen?

it'd probly be a good idea to take off the fill nipple and pressure gauge, and fill those holes with 1/8" NPT plugs, and you could only fill co2 in your tank if you have a screw in tank, because that's how most co2 fill stations attach to the tank, through the tank threads. (you COULD use the fill nipple to fill it, but you'd have to put a female QD on the fill station, leaving the fillstation specific to tanks with fill nipples. That also leaves the issue of having the o-ring in the fill nipple freeze up and leak, not pretty)

It could be done, and a lot of people do that with their 68ci fiber wrapped tanks for use on shockers or impulses. But, it would also be murder on that reg in the neck of your nitro bottle. You'd need a co2 pin or on/off valve (believe you can get those from smart parts).

In short, the bottle can handle being filled with liquid co2, but because of the design of the fill nipple/gauge/tank reg which don't take into account extreme temperature fluctuations (I.E. co2 usage) it wouldn't be advisable without the proper precautions.

Co2 can go in a HPA tank, once you get all the plumbing figured out.

The imporant thing is figuring out how much Co2 to put in. Too much and it's bad.

The important numbers and information can be found on the warpig site here: http://www.warpig.com/paintball/tech...dynamics.shtml

Since the lowerest HPA rating is 3000psi and the highest presssure a 100% rated fill gets at 120F is under 2000psi. They're shouldn't be a problem with them.

As a side note, you may wish to get something bigger than a 51ci tank, since that's the same size as a 20oz Co2 tank...
