Automag with X-valve(RT and lvl10) or Cocker?????

Should i stick with my mag and buy a x-valve(the rt valve wth a lvl 10) or should i buy a low end cocker. I want a gun that can compete in a tournament!

a low end cocker is no better than a mag. (now worse either). a XValve Mag will hold its own against any markre on the planet

You will be able to shoot alot faster with an X-valve than you will be able to with a cocker. Your mag will be able to compete in a tourny even without the X-valve. It's just alot faster with one.

As far as buying a low end cocker, you'll just have something that will need alot of work, and you'll probably end up buying alot of upgrades for it.

Not much else to say. In my opinion it would indeed be silly to buy a cocker. With cockers(especially low ends) you just end up having to put a lot of time and effort into it; you have to get it timed, get the right upgrades to get it close to what your mag with an X-Valve could do. Good luck deciding!

Your 'mag with the X-valve will smoke just about any low to mid level cocker hands down!!!
Fisrt of all, you are used to the 'mag alredy!! The X-valve will have much better ROF, and it will not chop or break paint!! With the cocker, you will still have problems with chopping, specialy if you're not used to one since you are more likely to short stroke. And you will ahve to put all kinds of money into upgrading it to keep up with the high end stuff, ROF and consistency wise!!!

                I agree ...

A mag with an XValve (and intelliframe) will blow away most markers out there and easily compete in tourny's ..

The XValve is the same valve used in the Emags and Xmags ... with the level 10 you eliminate chopping so even if you somehow over fire (which I cant see ya shooting that fast) or short stroke you WONT break a single ball.

Go with the XValve! Maybe even add a WARP kit and you'll be fully tourny ready ... low pop-shot profile and the best valve!

                Sincerely,

The "low end" 2003 cockers are actually very nice and I belive come stock with a hinge trigger and will not need to be upgraded to be competitive. Cocker upgrades are 90% cosmetic. They also are timed from the factory and will be fine as long as you don't screw with it.
Now if the mag has an intelliframe with and X-valve it will be a better choice as you will have insane performance without fear of chopping, and is what I would go with. But it really comes down to what YOU like and you can't go wrong with either.

                    Cocker vs. Mag

I think it all depends on what you are looking for in a paintball marker. If you don't care too much about aesthetics and want a simple, easy to troubleshoot gun that you are already familiar with, and have a nice rate of fire and little to no chance of ball breakage (just because the bolt doesn't chop it doesn't mean balls won't break in the barrel), the Automag or Minimag with an Xvalve and Intellifeed is a great choice. I am using a Lvl 10 in a stock Mag right now but getting an Xvalve after AGD does their inventory and thinking about a benchmark but they're pricey for what they are. I am also actually looking at maybe switching to Autocockers though. They are way more versatile and upgrades are NOT just aesthetic as I read somewhere in this thread. You can get a base Autococker and upgrade what you want improved. You can take a basic Cocker and convert it into one that'll rival the new Orracle because all the parts are available to buy. The new three-way and hinge trigger will rival an Xvalved Mag no doubt. If properly tuned it will probably beat it because of the lighter trigger pull, and the new bolt is designed to work even with the timing slipping a little. Plus, you can get cool looking bodies and get them anodized. Yes, they require more maintenance and knowledge to properly work, but if you get experience you'll actually begin to love working on it. I sometimes think Mags are too simple. And a final note is availability of parts. WGP does not have the problem with supply that AGD does, and more stores carry larger assortment of WGP parts. So go Cocker or Mag. Each has their benefits. And if you go to buy one and the dealer says you can get a better and more upgradeable marker with a Spyder, Brass Eagle, or Viewloader, laugh and leave. They're idiots. Mags and Cockers have lasted this long because they are the most reliable companies out there.

                      mag or cocker

If you have the money get a freeflow cocker. they never need to be timed, they are fully upgraded, and need almost no maitnence.
