    Question about polishing...

I really want to polish my body rail. Is that a good idea? Could I screw up my gun if i did it. Are there any risks? And finally, if it is perfectly safe how would I do it? If its more trouble than its worth, is anyone willing to sell me one? I really would appreciate the help.

You can polish it without any problems, but it will take some work. First you have to strip the old anodize of with a lye solution (easy-off oven cleaner), then start sanding with 220 wetdry sandpaper, once it is all even go with finer grits until you get to a 600 or 800, the use some aluminum polish or tripoli compound to get it polished. If you want it realy shiny, use some white rough afterwards.
    Hope that helps.

just polish the outter walls. do not polish the part that the grip frame touches nor the part the body touches. those parts are sensative enough that even the smallest change in width will make your gun misfire...

would seem to me that just polishing the "sides" and outer walls of it would look rather, well funny? I mean having the sides and back/front etc polished to a nice shine, only to have the bottom where the grip frame sits be still black?

I'd like some clarification on this as well as I want to maybe polish my bodyrail of the emag. Is there that much of a tolerance issue that if you strip off the anno and sand a bit that it'll cause problems?

yes, dont polish the part where the body or hte grip frame covers. first, its a waste of tim(you cant see it) and second, it CAN mess up the tolerances and mess up the gun

so you would still polish the bottom of the frame but not where the grip sits?
