Wiring a Warp with LED and on-off switch

I want to add an led to my Warp, but am not sure where it needs to go. I'm going to parallel the 9v batteries and throw in a single pole, double throw switch to completely kill any voltage travel (overkill, I know, but it's what I want to do). I remember that much from my basic electronics class, but not how to wire in an led

Do I need to parallel the led after the switch, or put it in series, and in either case, what direction do I need to put the cathode and anode? I'm assuming that I need a 9v diode (I have a couple of 5v, 20 and 30 mA diodes handy). Any of you electronic wizards out there able to help me?

    Thanks in advance!

This page has good info on an LED, switch, and 12v conversion for the warp, http://obdo.flipty.com/mods-12vwarpfeed.htm

just remember.......A(anode) comes before C(cathode) in the alphabet, and it does in electronics too. (so A is closer to positive)

You will want to wire it in parallel after the switch. Dont forget to use a resistor, or your LED will only light once for a very short period of time

I followed the link that Chuck posted and tried the 12v mod, along with putting the swtich and led in. For some reason, everything worked fine when testing with 9v, but when I threw the 18v into the circuit, nothing worked and the regulator started heating up. At that point in time, I decided to just parallel the 9v batteries, install the led in parallel across the Warp board, install the switch and go from there. Works perfectly, the led lights up, the switch does what it's supposed to and the Warp runs like a druggie after his supplier when he needs his fix.

Thanks for the link and advice, it's greatly appreciated!
