Is the Nubin important in terms of the barrel

Is the nubin (the little wire thing that goes between the o-rings on the barrel) important, or can I deal without?

If it is important, the video shows the nubin with a "v" shape that dips into the barrel. Mine came with a hook. Is this a newer/better way to do it considering the video was made in the late 1920's ;], or is this how it comes and I simply have to readjust it? Thanks for your help

Nubbin prevents double feeding. You want it...

As for the nubbin kind, they have been upgraded to plastic nubbins. You can pick them up in the AGD store under parts.

If you pick up a parts kit I believe it has 2 plastic nubbins in it ...

To answer one of your questions: the nubbin you have is called a "P" Nubbin, and it's fine how it is. There are a few different types out there: 'P', 'V', and the newer plastic ones. They all work fine I think.
        (I have the plastic ones.)

the wire nubbins can bend and may require adjusting sometimes-if you find you are double feeding then you can bend them so that they extend further into the barrel, or if you find you are breaking balls in the breach area it may also be the wire nubbin cutting balls because it is sticking too far into the barrel. wire nubbins can also break leaving a sharp end to it which can also cut balls as you fire them. the plastic nubbins are not adjustable, however you should never find a need to adjust them. they are more durable and should never require replacement due to regular wear.
