broken quick strip screw in micro mag...

ok i have a 2000 micro mag and somehow i managed to break the quick strip screw while it was i there. So i got the half with the 'head' of the screw out but the other half is still in the threads; but it broke so that the remainging half is out far enough that you cant slide the valve out the back because its still in the hole thing. And since this is a micro there is no rail or body; its all on pice, so i have to slide the valve to get it out instead of just removing the rail.

Basicly, imagine if you had a classic mag with the front most trigger frame screw still in, then you were to unscrew the back most screw a little, but not all the way out, and cut the 'head' of the screw off; thats about the situation i have; so basicly i need a way to get that valve off without removing the front most screw (in this example thingy)

I cant do the loctite a tool to the screwtrick because the new top of the screw is like down in the hole some, and if i get loctite on the body ill never get the screw out.

And like i said i cant just take the rail off and remove the valve 'vertically' with the body then because its a micro mag.

how the hell should i remove this? thanks

I would try to use a dremel tool to cut a slot in the remaining part of the screw. Be patient and cut steady and it should work. Be sure to use a good screwdriver and it should be fine.

The other alternative would be to use a dremel or a drill to drill out the rest of the screw protruding into the frame. That is probably what I would do. But I also have some nice tooling for doing this. Just drill slowly wit hthe valve and body held securely, and just do a little bit at a time, till it comes out.

Yet another possibliity would be to use a left handed drill bit.

Hopefully one of these will work for you.

no no no guys, its not just the remaning portion of the screw in the valve, theres a little bit of it that is sticking out above of the valve; and its in like a hole of the body, so i cant cut a slot in it bacause its like 1/4" down there and i cant get to it that easy.

think of how you can just slide the valve out of the body in a classic mag when you only take the quick strip screw out, thats the only way i can get my valve out, and i cant slide it because the part of the screw that is sticking above the valve gets in the way.

Do not hack your valve with a dremmel!!! Just use a pick or something like that to unscrew the broken portion of the screw, it's relly easy!!!

ok i got it out no thanks to your ideas guys!

what i did was drill a VERY shallow hole (like 1/16") with a very small drill bit (i think it was the 1/16 bit) then i jammed a phillips head of a softer metal in the hole and unscrewed it. The key to this was being paitient and watching the drill bit to keep it in the center.

Thanks for all the help though!

da skunk. ok. we said drill hole in it. you drilled a small one. we said (i know i said this also) to take a phillips screwdriver or flathead(are they the same ones?) and press it against it and unscrew it. you add these two together, and you got what we told you to do. how is that "no thanks to your ideas guys"
                    ???
