Autococker Question...

I feel kinda silly posting this in the Automag Forum, but hey.. this is the ONLY place I get intelligent responses... :)


Here goes..

My Dad took out his 99 Mini STO to play on Sunday... We played for a good 2 HOurs.. then all of a sudden, he pulled his bolt back before a match and fired a test shot... All he got was Air coming out the front of his barrell. We shut the tank off, and pulled the bolt out to make sure everything was seated correctly. After reassembling, we tried again... Same problem... Air coming out of the front of the gun (Barrell)...

Does anyone know what could have happened? Any specific rings that could be bad, etc?

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Thank you for the complement, first of all!! I think the problem may be your valve has stuck!! That is, as far as I know, the only cause for a 'cocker leaking out the barrel!!!

Are you referring to the 3-Way? Because we did notice that the 3 Way seemed to be "loose"

I need to go out and Find me a Schematic to look at.. hehe

The main valve was stuck open. You have to cock an autococker before you gas it up so that the hammer isn't holding the valve open.

Well... I have degassed the gun, then cocked and regassed.. but as soon as I pull the trigger, same problem...

If the valve is stuck open, how do I fix it?

Umm..why would you pull the bolt back to test fire a cocker? Was it gassed up? Or did you mean pull the trigger?

If it was working fine before and then after a shot it started to vent. I think the probably cause is that your tank is low. There is not enough air pressure to hold the valve closed against the mainspring pressure.

The tank wasn't empty (>800 psi)? Make sure your inline pressure is high enough. That's okay? Back out the main spring velocity adjuster until it's flush with the body. Try again.

The perhaps you valve really is stuck open. Though I can't really see how. Maybe the valve spring went wacko? I've taken apart cockers with valves so gummed up they still work. If all else fails, take out and reinstall the valve. check those orings on the valve and the cup seal as well.

Well.. He wasn't "test firing" it, per se.. The match was about to begin, and he gassed up and popped a couple rounds off to make sure the first ball wasnt going to chop, or whatever.. BUt nevertheless... Leak.

Also.. .He had just had his tank aired up, so I BELIEVE it was ready to go...

He's running an AGD flatline 3k...

If it is cocked and still leaking it is a problem with the valve, either the Cup Seal is not seated properly or the valve is not seated properly or oring failure.

Does it still fire when air rushes down the barrel?

When the gun is Cocked... there is no leak...

But when the trigger is pulled, the gun leaks HEAVY out the barrell, and wont fire, or cycle..

Is the gun recocking after each shot? If it doesnt recock, then the valve is still open. This could be a problem with the pneumatics, or possibly the timing. Perhaps the sear lug is set to short and isnt able to get caught back on the sear when the back block pushes it back.

If the gun isnt recocking, then i would look into that problem first.

The gun is Definately not recocking...

Im assuming the Valve is stuck open...

How can I go about Closing the valve?

Timing issue, then. Could be any number of things, hammer lug to short, sear spring to light, 3way activation off, or to light of lpr pressure/to heavy of a mainspring.
