    Magic box questions?

Hi everybody...while i was at my local field today talking to one of the airsmiths, he told me something interesting that i had some questions on. When i brought him my mag, with magic box and newly blow open macro line(see main forum for that story) i asked him if the magic box was completely worthless like everyone has told me..he said it wasn't worthless, and that if i used it with a maxflow air system it would do something to make my gun's velocity go up as i continued to knock off consecutive shots. seems like a pretty unfair thing to me, but a cool thing to play with. he said that back in the day when he has his magic box he could get his fps up to 370 after a string of 11 shots. anybody have an educated reason as to why this doesn't work? i for one had just played my first paintball game when magic boxes came out, so im clueless.

I don't have a clue as to if it works...but if the guy was really shooting 370fps that is pretty dangerous. You shouldn't do it.

i think your airsmith is telling you a load of kaka. the magic box is just a chamber that is drilled in to your current air chamber in the valve. this increases the volume of air inside the gun by a very small amount. it is supposed to let you run your gun at a lower pressure, but doesn't really work. if you start to shoot faster and faster, with a regular valve, your velocity will most likely go down, not up.

in other words, the magic box is pretty useless.

Understood, thats what i had heard before and i just wanted a second opinion. It should be off my gun in a few days when i get a new valve...any chance that a new minimag valve will increase my consistency?

back in the day (as ypur tech put it) the magic box was tested by a newspaper team known as P.C.R.I., they did (2) different tests on it, and back then said it was worthless. contact any of Pevs Paintball stores, they were the ones that used tp print the newspaper. Try pevspaintball.com, unfortunatly i dont know if the paper is still around but they may be able to locate some of the old articles on what their results were.

I say the same as ChaOtic...

I have been around paintball for a very long time, and a friend of mine has a black pf smartmag. I used to have a classic std feed mag. There was no difference. So u will not see any difference with the minimag valve. Get a retrovalve to see a change...
