My friend just got an X-Mag and ran into a couple of problems. Being technically inept he passed it over to me to try and fix.
First problem:
Marker was leaking down the barrel and when it would pressure up enough to fire the bolt would stick nearly every time.
This seemed to me like a level 10 problem so I pulled it apart and put a larger internal diamater o-ring in the carrier. Put the beast back together and tried it out. No more bolt stick but we were still leaking down the barrel. Pulled it apart again went to the size lower carrier. Put it back together again. Started firing and we seemed good to go.
In e-mode I could fire all I wanted and had no problem what so ever. I tried firing slow or fast and it worked like a charm.
Second problem:
I switched over to manual mode and I ran into some more problems. Every couple of shots it would gas out and I would have to wait for the valve to recharge before shooting.
I called AGD Tech support and they told me to lengthen the trigger rod by .005. I picked up a pair of calipers and set about getting this done.
Well, it turned out I had no idea how to lengthen the trigger rod. So instead I regassed up the gun and listened intently for any possible leaks. I found one that sounded like it was coming from the connect between the QD male end and the 90 degree elbow up by the valve. I pulled it apart applied some teflon tape and put it back together. Gassed up the gun and off we went again.
This time the gas out was less frequent but still there when in manual mode. I also listened and found part of the leak that I was hearing before seemed to actually be coming from the left side of the valve where you can see just the corner of the on/off bottom.
**** The Questions ****
How do I stop this from leaking?
When I do stop the leak will it fix the problem?
If I do need to lengthen the trigger rod how do I do it?
Final note:
The marker seems to be an excellent gun and when it's in e-mode (therefore working appropriately) it is impressive and worth every penny. My only concern is why, when the gun arrives new from the factory should I need to spend 3-4 hours getting it to work right. Don't get me wrong I love AGD products I shoot a classic RT that has held up to the abuse I give it better than any gun I know. Hopefully, just some constructive criticism.
Thanks
mike
