Need Help with Benchmark Trigger Frame

I recently purchased a Benchmark Trigger Frame for my Minimag. I installed it and noticed that I needed to adjust the trigger rod. Seeing has how I have never successfully done this (I broke a rod the last time a tried), I am seeking help from someone who has actually done this. If I could get a reply this week I would appreciate it. I tried to call Airgun Designs and searched this forum without success. Airgun is at World Cup this week.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

what was wrong with it in the first place? did it not shoot with the stock trigger rod? you really shouldn't adjust your trigger rod because it will screw up the timing of the mag. if you are adjusting the trigger rod to give you a shorter pull, you are making a bad decision. you could install a trigger stop by tapping a hole in the frame behind the trigger and installing a small metal rod that will stop the trigger after it is fired.

Let me be a little bit more clear...

When I installed the Benchmark frame, gas leaked down the barrel. This is not a problem I had with my stock frame. I assumed (maybe incorrectly) that the trigger rod needed to be adjusted because it was not grabbing the bolt. I do have a power tube spacer kit that I was going to try before I tampered with the rod length.

I understand you guys talking about not adjusting the rod length. I also understand the timing issue. I know that the space between the rod and the trigger (pre-shoot) and the rod and the frame is not 1/16 of an inch. Is this really important with non-stock grip frames? Or is the overall length what is most critical?

I go back and forth with stock Sears all the time from a benchy to a stock trigger frame and never have to touch the trigger rod. It works at factory setting in both. Your problem is elsewhere...

AGD, where we are so good we can do it with only ONE tube!

i believe i had the same problem that you are describing when i first got my benchmark frame and installed it the trigger rod when gassed up would touch the back of the trigger causing it to leak from not allowing the sear to grab the bolt. if this is what yours is doing you might adjust the rod length but i assume no reasponsibility if you break it, you may have to heat the section of the rod were it screws into the fulcrum as to loosen the loctite, it shouldn't be hard to twist so if it is try heating it and then tryto turn it again, placing it back in the frame occasionally and gassing up to see if you need further adjustment, try to get about a 1/16 of an inch before and after the shot is fired. hope this helps.
